Fatigue Life Prediction by a Local Stress-Strain Criterion for Hole-Containing Specimens After Precompression of Their Material

The fatigue life prediction method for structure elements with the material precompression in the hole vicinity is proposed. The method is a further step in evolving the approach to life prediction from a local stress-strain state that is based on the energy criterion of fatigue fracture.

Based on Fourier series, an analytic formula for analyzing the prestress in the web of box girder with single bar was deduced through simplifying the action of single vertical prestress bar as a couple of concentrated forces with equal value but opposite direction acting on a thin rectangular board with infinite length.

Precompression stress is often used as a criterion for soil susceptibility to compaction. The objective of this study was to compare precompression stresses derived from different compression test methods and relate these values to measured stress and displacement during wheeling in the field.
