Covariance of the intertropical discontinuity and African easterly jet in Sahelian wet and dry years
Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.Intertropical discontinuity and African easterly jet (AEJ) positions are strongly correlated, with a more pronounced linear relationship across wet years. Surface heat flux anomalies modify low‐level temperature and sensible heat flux gradients that shift the AEJ core south of the gradient maxima in both composites.

Intensity dependence of El Niño and La Niña evolution and mixed‐layer heat‐budget processes
Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) intensity modulates the spatial, temporal, and dynamical evolution of events strongly. El Niño SST anomalies shift westward with decreasing intensity, while La Niña anomalies remain spatially fixed. Stronger events initiate earlier and persist longer than weak events.

Weather, EarlyView.The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season was intermittent, with extended quiet periods separated by three clusters of activity. The broad‐scale conditions were often unfavourable for cyclogenesis and common drivers of activity such as La Niña were weak, but well above‐average sea temperatures still supported intense storms.

Quasi–Newton updates for Preconditioned Nonlinear Conjugate Gradient methods
, 2012 In this paper we study new preconditioners for the Nonlinear Conjugate Gradient (NCG) method in large scale unconstrained optimization. Our preconditioners are based on quasi--Newton updates, which approximate the inverse of the Hessian matrix. In particular, we consider a couple of new low-rank quasi-Newton symmetric updating formulae.

Allergy, EarlyView.We aimed to report the existence and profile of group 9 innate lymphoid cells (ILC9s). Overall, ILC9 proportions in AR patients show differences compared to healthy subjects and responder SCIT patients. IL‐9 expression decreases after siRNA inhibition of Bach2 suggesting Bach2 could display as a transcription factor of ILC9.
