Soil precompression stress assessed from strain‐stress data in linear scale: The need for a physically based approach

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, Volume 90, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
Abstract State‐of‐the‐art models for soil compaction express soil strength by the so‐called precompression stress. The idea is to avoid stresses higher than those previously exposed to the soil. However, the quantification of soil precompression stress generally implies a problematic logarithmic transformation of the applied stress.

How Does Heterogeneity Control Strain Localization Patterns in High‐Porosity Rocks?

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract We aim to explore how heterogeneous porosity and grain size contribute to strain localization patterns in highly porous rocks based on phase‐field simulations. The strain localization patterns, including shear bands, dilatation bands, and compaction bands, are commonly observed in geological field studies and laboratory experiments.

Resistência à compactação de um Latossolo cultivado com cafeeiro, sob diferentes sistemas de manejo de plantas invasoras Resistance to soil compaction of an Oxisol cultivated with coffee plants under different weed Management systems

Extended Kelvin–Voigt Model for Simulating Thermally Accelerated Creep in Fine‐Grained Soils

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 50, Issue 4, Page 1843-1854, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The subsurface undergoes temperature variations in many situations due to anthropogenic and natural causes, which strongly influence the long‐term behavior of soils. These phenomena can involve temperature anomalies in the ground across distances of a few meters, as in the case of nuclear waste repositories, to distances encompassing entire ...

A pilot study of chemoimmunotherapy in the postconsolidation setting for high‐risk neuroblastoma (ANBL19P1): A report from the Children’s Oncology Group

open access: yesCancer, Volume 132, Issue 2, 15 January 2026.
Abstract Background Survival for patients with high‐risk neuroblastoma remains poor despite current‐era multimodality treatment that includes postconsolidation GD2‐directed immunotherapy. Given the promising responses in patients who receive dinutuximab‐based chemoimmunotherapy in the relapsed setting, the Children’s Oncology Group ANBL19P1 study ...

Research on Settlement Prediction and Control of Lock Floor Concrete Pouring Construction

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
As the core structure of inland waterway hubs, lock engineering’s structural safety directly affects navigation efficiency and life cycle benefits. With the advancement of “quality engineering,” construction accuracy requirements have evolved from traditional strength control to three‐dimensional spatial precision, particularly for floor slab elevation,
