Lighting up Individual Organelles With Fluorescent Carbon Dots

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2021
Cell organelles play crucial roles in the normal functioning of an organism, therefore the disruption of their operation is associated with diseases and in some cases death. Thus, the detection and monitoring of the activities within these organelles are

Precursor of Inflation [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2013
We investigate a nonsingular initial state of the Universe which leads to inflation naturally. The model is described by a scalar field with a quadratic potential in Eddington-inspired Born-Infeld gravity. The curvature of this initial state is given by the mass scale of the scalar field which is much smaller than the Planck scale.

Precursors of Ethylene [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1969
Two pathways for biosynthesis of ethylene in higher plants have been postulated (10). One is associated with the breakdown of peroxidized linolenic acid and the other involves the degradation of methionine. Although the formation of ethyilene from peroxidized linolenate has been demonstrated in model systems catalyzed by Cu24, oxygen and ascorbic acid (

New extraction techniques on bioseparations: 2. Pertraction, direct extraction [PDF]

open access: yesHemijska Industrija, 2004
The second part of this review presents our original results on the separation of some biosynthetic products (antibiotics, carboxylic acids, alcohols) by pertraction and direct extraction from broths without biomass filtration.

Use of Molding Mixtures for the Production of Cast Porous Metals

open access: yesMetals, 2022
This paper aims to present the possibility of producing cast porous metals (or metallic foams) in a low-tech way by the use of conventional foundry technologies, i.e., the common procedures and materials.

Mitochondrial Protein Import [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The role of nucleoside triphosphates (NTPs) in mitochondrial protein import was investigated with the precursors of N. crassa ADP/ATP carrier, F1-ATPase subunit β, F0-ATPase subunit 9, and fusion proteins between subunit 9 and mouse dihydrofolate ...

Reaction mechanisms of alkali-activated materials

open access: yesRevista IBRACON de Estruturas e Materiais, 2021
: The Alkali-Activated Materials (AAM) are defined as materials obtained through the reaction between precursors and activators, and are separated into two classes depending on the products formed in the reaction, those rich in calcium, as the blast ...

Wilson Loops as Precursors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
There is substantial evidence that string theory on AdS_5 x S_5 is a holographic theory in which the number of degrees of freedom scales as the area of the boundary in Planck units.
