A Transferable Individual‐Based Framework for Quantifying Demographic Structure and Spatial Organization in Colonial Species Using UAV Imagery

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Adélie penguins gather in colonies as standing or prone adults, individual chicks, and chick crèches. From drone images, we distinguish adults and chicks by their plumage, identify adult postures by body shape, and estimate the size of chick groups from the area they occupy. We map these groups and measure how closely penguins live together.

Sustainability Assessment: The Role of Entropy‐Based Indicators for Reconnecting Human' Subjectivity and Civilization With Natural Tendency of Ecosystems

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sustainability represents a complex issue in which scientific knowledge inevitably coexists with the subjective perception of humans in its turn influenced by civilization, cultural but also unconscious aspects. These results emerge with evidence from a critical analysis of the main definitions of sustainability delivered by credited entities (

The Global Forestation Network: Orchestrating the Financing and Development of Tree Planting Programs

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study introduces the ‘global forestation network’ (GFN)—an arrangement of actors that shape afforestation, reforestation, and forest restoration activities worldwide. These activities typically involve planting trees, and are motivated by supporting biodiversity, local communities, and climate change mitigation. At the GFN's core sit the ‘

Single‐Vesicle Functional Nanophenotyping Reveals Heterogeneous PD‐L1 Accessibility in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Graphical Abstract. High‐speed atomic force microscopy enables real‐time, label‐free visualization of antibody interactions with individual extracellular vesicles. By quantifying binding frequency and dwell time, this approach reveals functional PD‐L1 accessibility that cannot be inferred from protein abundance alone, uncovering nanoscale heterogeneity

Freeform Nanopatterning of Hydrogel Surfaces

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
We present a method for fabricating grayscale surface topographies with nanometer‐scale features on hydrogel surfaces. Patterns are transferred from a silicon wafer to a hydrogel via replica molding. Controlled dehydration induces hydrogel shrinkage, miniaturizing the original structures.

Antimicrobial Residues in a Key Cerrado River: Distribution, Persistence, and Effects on Zebrafish Embryo‐Larval Development

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The current study aimed to quantify the antimicrobials amoxicillin (AMX), cefazolin (CFZ), chloramphenicol (CHL), metronidazole (MTZ), and sulfamethoxazole (SX) in effluents and surface water of an important Cerrado river, calculate their half‐lives, and analyze their ecotoxicity following single and combined exposures.
