Prediction of readmission to acute psychiatric units

Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology, 2001
Many factors are known to influence readmission to psychiatric wards, and readmission rates have been suggested as proxy outcome indicators of quality.Korner returns were used to ascertain readmission rates for all psychiatric admissions to acute wards in North Staffordshire, 1987-1993.

Predicting deaths among intensive care unit patients

Critical Care Medicine, 1988
Daily APACHE II assessments to reflect the dynamic pathophysiologic processes affecting ICU patients were carried out prospectively on 212 adult ICU admissions for the purpose of predicting hospital outcome. Trend analysis of daily APACHE II scores was used to develop the first set of criteria for predicting deaths among the ICU patients.

Semi-local units for prediction

IJCNN-91-Seattle International Joint Conference on Neural Networks, 2002
The authors consider a class of semilocal activation functions, which respond to more localized regions of input space than sigmoid functions but less localized regions than radial basis functions (RBFs). In particular, they examine Gaussian bar functions, which sum the Gaussian responses from each input dimension.

Clinician predictions of intensive care unit mortality*

Critical Care Medicine, 2004
Predicting outcomes for critically ill patients is an important aspect of discussions with families in the intensive care unit. Our objective was to evaluate clinical intensive care unit survival predictions and their consequences for mechanically ventilated patients.Prospective cohort study.Fifteen tertiary care centers.Consecutive mechanically ...

Predicting the Future: Advantages of Semilocal Units

Neural Computation, 1991
In investigating gaussian radial basis function (RBF) networks for their ability to model nonlinear time series, we have found that while RBF networks are much faster than standard sigmoid unit backpropagation for low-dimensional problems, their advantages diminish in high-dimensional input spaces.

Health Outcome Predictive Modelling in Intensive Care Units

Operations Research for Health Care, 2022
AbstractThe literature in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) data analysis focuses on predictions of length-of-stay (LOS) and mortality based on patient acuity scores such as Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE), Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA), to name a few.

Machine remaining useful life prediction considering unit-to-unit variability

2017 IEEE International Conference on Prognostics and Health Management (ICPHM), 2017
Remaining useful life (RUL) prediction of machinery plays a significant role for predictive maintenance, thus attracting more and more attentions in recent years. Stochastic process model-based methods are widely used in the RUL prediction of machinery.

Aging prediction of quartz crystal units

Proceedings of the 42nd Annual Frequency Control Symposium, 1988., 2003
Mechanisms are discussed which influence crystal unit stability with respect to time as well as their mathematical models. It is shown that it is possible to forecast aging over a longer period of time using extrapolation based on these models, if good correlation exists between the frequency changes measured over a short period of time and the ...

Instruction Prediction in Microprocessor Unit

2011
Protection of computer systems from an unauthorized access to the classified information is a very essential issue. The research deals with some aspect of this problem resulting from the fact, that for instance, an author of a software for embedded system is not aware that it is possible to identify partly or entirely, program code.

Predicting Units Needed for College Entrance

The Personnel and Guidance Journal, 1967
This article reports an example of guidance research to improve student decision‐making. Each of 278 students in a recent high school graduating class in Palo Alto was classified according to the criterion of highest level of college (in terms of academic preparation required for entrance) by which he had been accepted. A correlation analysis indicated
