Causal relationship between body mass index and insulin resistance: Linear and nonlinear Mendelian randomization study in a Japanese population

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
We investigated the causal relationship between BMI and glycemic traits using Mendelian randomization in a Japanese population. Our findings revealed a positive association between BMI and insulin resistance, with potential heterogeneity and a J‐shaped relationship.

Diabetes and women's health

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
The trajectory of diabetes and comorbidities over a woman's lifecourse. In this review, Ma and colleagues summarize key aspects of how diabetes intersects with women's health, and how a holistic, integrative, and lifecourse approach to diabetes and women's health can have a significant impact on noncommunicable diseases on a population level.

Pregnancy, Birth, and Mental Health Outcomes Associated With Recent Reproductive Coercion and Intimate Partner Violence in a Crowd‐Sourced National Sample

open access: yesJournal of Midwifery &Women's Health, EarlyView.
Introduction Reproductive coercion (RC) is a type of intimate partner violence (IPV) in which partners control reproductive health decision‐making. More evidence is needed on peripartum health outcomes related to RC, with and without IPV, to inform interventions and health care response. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of RC, with

Maternal haploid induction in maize via mutation of Gamete Expression protein 1

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Doubled haploid (DH) technology, based on haploid induction (HI), is a crucial tool in enhancing crop‐breeding efficiency and has been successfully applied in various plant species. While many HI‐related genes have been identified using diverse strategies, the genetic basis and molecular mechanisms underlying HI remain incompletely understood ...

Factors determining chromosomal localization of transposable elements in plants

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
We review transposon chromosomal niches, and the functional consequences of their specific chromosomal localization in plants. Abstract Transposable elements (TEs) constitute a significant part of plant genomes and shape their genomic landscape. While some TEs are ubiquitously dispersed, other elements specifically occupy discrete genomic loci.
