Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

Twin Reversed Arterial Perfusion: To Treat or Not? [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2017
Acardiac twinning or Twin Reverse Arterial Perfusion (TRAP)-sequence is a rare complication of monochorionic twin pregnancy. Whether to start elective or therapeutic treatment in TRAP-sequence is still controversial.

Leriche’s syndrome and twin pregnancy

open access: yesJournal of Turkish Society of Obstetric and Gynecology, 2020
Leriche's syndrome is characterized by chronic obstruction of the abdominal aorta and iliac arteries. A patient with Leriche's syndrome presented with twin pregnancy and severe preeclampsia at 32 weeks' gestation. Cesarean delivery was performed and the patient was admitted to the intensive care unit.

Avidin is evolutionarily conserved in fish but dispensable for development and resistance against Streptococcus agalactiae in zebrafish

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The presence of biotin‐binding avidin proteins in fish and their biological significance are poorly characterized. We cataloged fish avidins and demonstrate that they are widely present and evolutionarily conserved. We created avd knockout zebrafish and show that zebavidin is dispensable for development and that resistance of avd knockout embryos in ...

TWIN PREGNANCY AFTER THE TRANSFER OF TWO EMBRYOS

open access: yesZdravniški Vestnik, 2003
Background. Twin pregnancy rates following the transfer of two embryos in in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment are high. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate twin pregnancy rates in regard to the developmental stage of the embryo, patient ...

Structure–Function Decoupling of the Sensorimotor and Default Mode Networks in Black Americans With MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits racially disparate rates of disease progression. Black people with MS (B‐PwMS) experience a more severe disease course than non‐Hispanic White people with MS (NHW‐PwMS). Here we investigated structural and functional connectivity as well as structure–function decoupling in the ...

Weight gain during twin pregnancy with favorable pregnancy outcomes in Japan: A retrospective investigation for new criteria based on perinatal registry data.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
In 2009, the United States Institute of Medicine (IOM) reported the optimal gestational weight gain (GWG) during twin pregnancy based on the pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI).

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

Sex Representation in US Stroke Clinical Trials: A Decade of Trends and Challenges

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Stroke remains a major cause of disability and mortality in the US, with significant sex‐based disparities, and females remain underrepresented in stroke clinical trials. We aimed to examine sex representation in US‐based stroke clinical trials, identify trial characteristics associated with higher female enrollment (≥ 50%), and ...

A Case of Trap Sequence with Immense Acardiac Twin

open access: yesFolia Medica, 2014
Twin-reversed arterial perfusion sequence is a rare complication of monochorionic twin pregnancy in which an anomalous acardiac fetus is hemodynamically dependent on its structurally normal “pump” twin.
