Prehydrolysis Sulfite Revisited

Macromolecular Symposia, 2005
AbstractThe prehydrolysis of beech wood in water at different temperatures and the impact of this treatment on further pulping stages were explored. Both, increased condensation degree and an increased number of free phenolic hydroxyl groups were found in the lignin isolated after prehydrolysis. An intermediate alkaline extraction (using either NaOH or

Modelling of biomass fractionation by prehydrolysis-delignification

Chemical Engineering Science, 1988
Abstract A two-stage process is investigated as a potential fractionation method for barley straw biomass. Modeling of dilute-acid prehydrolysis shows that hemicellulose saccharification rate is controlled by chemical reaction; in the case of delignification of the prehydrolyzed residue by high-consistency clorination, the rate-controlling step is ...

Chemicals from wood: Prehydrolysis/organosolv methods

Biomass, 1989
The results of water hydrolysis of southern yellow pine and SO2 hydrolysis of southern hardwood mixtures are presented. A unified processing system of prehydrolysis and organosolv delignification is recommended on the basis of the above results and the results of organosolv-ethanol, EDA-EtOH-AQ and acid-catalyzed ethanol delignification systems on both

Control Strategy Scheme for the Prehydrolysis Kraft Process

Computer Aided Chemical Engineering, 2018
Abstract This paper presents a control strategy scheme for the prehydrolysis stage in the prehydrolysis kraft process. The key element of the proposed control strategy is a softsensor, which estimates the rate of the unobservable reactions based on a physicochemical dynamic model of the process.

Water Prehydrolysis of Moso Bamboo Dissolving Pulp

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
The chemical comcomposition and water prehydrolysis of moso bamboo were studied to prepare high grade dissolving pulp. The results indicated that the moso bamboo was an appropriate none-wood material for great dissolving pulp goten as its high cellulose content.

Improvements in the methanolysis of pectins by enzymic prehydrolysis

Carbohydrate Research, 1989
In order to improve the methanolysis of pectins, enzymic prehydrolysis was carried out. The methyl glycosides released were analyzed by h.p.l.c. The results were compared with those obtained by methanolysis with M HCl in methanol, and H 2 SO 4 in methanol by colorimetric determination of the content of galacturonic acid, as well as by g.l.c.

Prehydrolysis Pulping with Fermentation Coproducts

2012
Prehydrolysis coupled with traditional pulping methods is a forest biorefinery approach to add valuable fermentation-based coproducts to existing pulp and paper production. This chapter will review research on pulping procedures to release the hemicellulose extract from commercially important wood species; extract hydrolysis, inhibitor removal ...
