Effects of cardiac preload reduction and dobutamine on hepatosplanchnic blood flow regulation in porcine endotoxemia

open access: yes, 2012
Insufficient cardiac preload and impaired contractility are frequent in early sepsis. We explored the effects of acute cardiac preload reduction and dobutamine on hepatic arterial (Qha) and portal venous (Qpv) blood flows during endotoxin infusion.

A New Paradigm for Understanding the Rheology and Processability of Poly(p‐Phenylene Terephthalamide) Liquid‐Crystalline Solutions

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Kevlar is traditionally modeled as a rigid‐rod polymer, yet rheological behavior deviates from this assumption. The review introduces a novel “twist‐tie” entanglement theory for aramid polymer chains in the nematic liquid crystal state, providing a molecular explanation for deviations from rigid‐rod models. Understanding twist‐tie entanglement dynamics

Spindle Bearing Preload Control Using NI MyRIO

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The article presents an application for controlling the preload of bearings in a model spindle system. The bearing preload will be implemented using piezoelectric elements, which allow for changing the preload of bearings during spindle operation, which ...

Influences of preload on the friction and wear properties of high-speed instrument angular contact ball bearings

open access: yes, 2017
For starved-oil or solid lubrication of high-speed instrument angular contact ball bearings, friction heating and wear are the main reasons of bearing failures.

Continuous Sewing Machine‐Like Suture Provides Higher Failure and Yield Load Compared to Traditional Techniques for Meniscal Root Repair in a Biomechanical Porcine Model

open access: yesArthroscopy, EarlyView.
Purpose To evaluate the biomechanical performance of the sewing machine‐like suture (SMS) technique against three established techniques (two cinch‐loop (TCL), modified Mason‐Allen (MMA), and double Mason‐Allen (DMA)) for transtibial pull‐out repair of posterior medial meniscal root tear (PMMRT) in a porcine model.

Simulace provozu bezvůlového převodu ozubenými koly s elastickými prvky [PDF]

open access: yesACC Journal, 2011
Článek obsahuje popis jednoho z principů bezvůlového převodu ozubenými koly. Detailně je řešena konstrukce bezvůlové převodovky s předlohovými hřídeli. Vůle v záběrech ozubených kol a v ložiscích jsou vymezeny pomocí předepjaté torzní tyče.

Blood pressure effects of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists: Mechanisms, trial evidence and Real‐world data

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists modestly lower blood pressure across diverse patient populations, including those without diabetes. These effects appear largely independent of glycaemic control and offer additive value in high‐risk patients with overlapping comorbidities.

Review and prospects of shear test of bolted rock joints

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The laboratory shear test equipment, test method, and numerical simulation of bolted rock joints were summarized. The shortcomings and limitations of the current research were analyzed, and the research prospects were proposed. Abstract Rock bolting is a critical approach in geotechnical engineering for supporting weak rocks.

On Optimal Bolt Preload

open access: yes, 1976
A linear model of a bolted joint subject to alternating tension is directly correlated with a modified Goodman diagram. It is shown that bolt preload can have a beneficial or adverse effect.

Rock mechanical properties under reconstructed deep in situ thermo–hydro–mechanical conditions: Implications for CO₂‐related injection scenarios

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract illustrates a reconstructed in situ thermo‐hydro‐mechanical (THM) framework in which porosity serves as the central variable linking stress, pore pressure, and temperature to evolving mechanical properties of rocks. Under burial conditions, in situ stress, pore pressure, and temperature jointly govern volumetric strain and ...
