Adrenarche is when a child's adrenal cortex starts to secrete adrenal androgen precursors. Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is the most abundant product of the adrenal cortex, and is a weak androgen agonist thought to be responsible for the clinical signs of pubarche by conversion to more potent androgens, testosterone, and ...

A heterogeneous disorder, premature menopause is not an uncommon entity, affecting approximately 1% of women younger than 40 years. Multisystem implications are recognized as sequelae to the premature deprivation of ovarian steroids, posing unique health-related challenges in this population.

Prematurity/Extreme Prematurity
2010More than 25,000 newborns are preterm in the USA each year and many require surgical procedures. The common physiologic derangements seen in preterm newborns as well as the anesthetic considerations these morbidities warrant are discussed. Important general details of the perioperative care of preterm newborns such as fluid administration, glucose ...

Premature adrenarche refers to the precocious secretion of adrenal androgens, which results in the isolated development of pubic hair (pubarche) before the age of eight years in girls and nine years in boys. The female to male ratio is approximately 10:1.

We agree with Stein and Shannon1 who concluded in the May 1975 issue that continuous analog recording of respiration and heart rate in the premature infant has investigational value beyond that of conventional apnea monitoring. It is most unfortunate that commercial interests have plunged prematurely into the area.

Intravenously administered salbutamol inhibited premature labour for at least 48 hours in 49 of 76 patients (64%), but was more effective (89%) when the cervical dilatation was less than 2 cm, and no apparent cause for the premature labour was evident. Even when premature labour complicated multiple pregnancy, hydramnios, or followed a small antepartum

Adrenarche is the puberty of the adrenal gland. The descriptive term "pubarche" indicates the appearance of pubic hair, which may be accompanied by axillary hair. This process is considered premature if it occurs before age 8 yr in girls and 9 yr in boys. The chief hormonal products of adrenarche are DHEA and DHEAS.
