Study on Laminar Combustion Characteristics of Ammonia/ Hydrogen Premixed Based on Chemical Reaction Kinetics [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2023
The combustion characteristics of ammonia/hydrogen premixed laminar flow and the effect of hydrogen on the combustion performance of ammonia fuel were studied. First, the corresponding model of ammonia/ hydrogen premixed laminar combustion is established

Effect of the HPDI and PPCI Combustion Modes of Direct-Injection Natural Gas Engine on Combustion and Emissions

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Natural gas (NG) engines have very broad application prospects. The pilot-ignited NG diesel engine can be organized into two combustion modes according to the sequence of oil and gas injection: (1) High-pressure direct injection, where NG is mainly ...

Combustion Regimes in Turbulent Non-Premixed Flames for Space Propulsion

open access: yesAerospace, 2023
Direct numerical simulations of non-premixed fuel-rich methane–oxygen flames at 20 bar are conducted to investigate the turbulent mixing burning of gaseous propellants in rocket engines. The reacting flow is simulated by using an EBI-DNS solver within an

Lagrangian Formulation of Turbulent Premixed Combustion [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2011
The Lagrangian point of view is adopted to study turbulent premixed combustion. The evolution of the volume fraction of combustion products is established by the Reynolds transport theorem. It emerges that the burned-mass fraction is led by the turbulent particle motion, by the flame front velocity, and by the mean curvature of the flame front.

A Comparison between Statistical Behaviours of Scalar Dissipation Rate between Homogeneous MILD Combustion and Premixed Turbulent Flames

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
Three-dimensional Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS) data has been utilised to analyse statistical behaviours of the scalar dissipation rate (SDR) and its transport for homogeneous methane-air mixture turbulent Moderate or Intense Low oxygen Dilution ...

In-flame soot quantification of N-Hexadecane droplets using diffused back-illumination extinction imaging

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2022
To gain insights into spray combustion, the combustion characteristics of single droplets need be investigate. In this study, soot production measurements were performed on single droplet of N-Hexadecane using the two optical techniques of natural flame ...

A novel diffusion flux modeling for laminar premixed flame simulation with OpenFOAM

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2023
In this study, we developed a mass diffusion coefficient model for premixed combustion to reduce the computational time, in mixture-averaged diffusivities to serve as a microcomputer resource.

Characteristics of Explosion Hazards in Methane–Air Mixtures Diluted by Hydrogen

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
The combustion efficiency of methane can be effectively enhanced with the occurrence of hydrogen. However, the combustion characteristic of premixed methane/hydrogen/air is not fully understood.

Dynamics and control of premixed combustion systems based on flame transfer and describing functions

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 2020
This article describes recent progress on premixed flame dynamics interacting with acoustic waves. Expressions are derived to determine the stability of combustors with respect to thermoacoustic oscillations. The validity of these expressions is general,
