Turbulence–flame interactions in lean premixed dodecane flames [PDF]
Turbulent lean premixed dodecane/air flames are simulated in a doubly-periodic domain using detailed kinetics and transport over a range of Karlovitz number. We observe extensive thickening of thermal profiles through the flames that increases with turbulent intensity.

Spray‐flame synthesis enables highly flexible and scalable production of multinary and high‐entropy oxide nanoparticles due to high synthesis temperatures with subsequent quenching. Temperature‐dependent in situ diffraction of as‐synthesized materials clearly reveals entropy stabilization in rock salt lattices, while spinels—featuring tetrahedral and ...

Coherent Stokes Raman Scattering for Simultaneous Measurement of CO2 and CH4 Temperatures
A three‐beam hybrid fs/ps CSRS method is employed to excite the rovibrational transitions in the Fermi‐dyad of CO2$$ {}_2 $$ and the v2$$ {v}_2 $$ mode of CH4$$ {}_4 $$. Time‐domain spectroscopic models are developed to extract the fuel and flame temperature profiles from experimental CH4$$ {}_4 $$ and CO2$$ {}_2 $$ spectra in a diffusion flame ...

Effect of HBr on Explosion Limits of Stoichiometric Hydrogen‐oxygen Mixture
ABSTRACT This work, based on numerical simulations, discusses the effect of HBr as an inhibitor on the explosion limit of stoichiometric hydrogen‐oxygen gas mixture in a closed spherical vessel. The numerical simulation solves the complete governing equations for mass, momentum, species and energy.

Flame‐Assisted Modification of Glass Wettability: Preliminary Results
ABSTRACT Fog formation and moisture condensation limit the performance of glass surfaces in optical, microfluidic, and sensing applications, where stable transparency under humid conditions is essential. Enhancing surface wettability represents an effective strategy to mitigate these effects; therefore, the development of methods to tailor glass ...

The effect of swirl intensity on flame propagation behavior in lean premixed burner
In gas turbine engines, combustion temperature increases in order to reduce CO2 emissions and to improve thermal efficiency. However, at the same time, this leads to the increase of nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.

Study on Combustion Oscillation of Premixed Flame with Pilot Fuel at Elevated Pressures
Acoustically-coupled combustion oscillation is studied for premixed flame with pilot fuel to be used in gas turbine combustors. Premixed gas is passed through swirl vanes and burnt with the centrally injected pilot fuel.

Propagation Properties of Turbulent Premixed Flames Neutral for Thermo-Diffusive Effects
Burning velocity is one of the important properties of premixed turbulent flames. Premixed turbulent flames are, in general, subjected to the thermo-diffusive effects in addition to the increase in the flame front area due to the influence of turbulence.
