Have Autocrats Governed for the Long Term?

open access: yesKyklos, Volume 78, Issue 2, Page 440-465, May 2025.
ABSTRACT The short answer is: probably not. We infer the priorities of national governments from observed outcomes, constructing a statistical proxy for long‐term benevolence. Framing Effects in Intertemporal Choices: 3 Two‐Step Experiments

open access: yesKyklos, Volume 78, Issue 2, Page 384-398, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Framings may affect individuals' choices. In particular, the perception of (implicit) risks and their costs may influence intertemporal choices. In a between‐subjects experimental design, participants are presented choices either in a standard (i.e., current vs.

Oblique effects with multisegment spectacle lenses: 1. Images of a point object

open access: yesOphthalmic and Physiological Optics, Volume 45, Issue 3, Page 779-789, May 2025.
Abstract Introduction Multisegment (MS) spectacles are intended to slow myopia progression by modifying images falling on the peripheral retina. Some published optical treatments of these lenses assume normal incidence of light at the surfaces, but images falling on the peripheral retina are usually associated with oblique ray pencils.

Additional accommodative controls in near heterophoria targets do not improve accommodative responses in young adults

open access: yesOphthalmic and Physiological Optics, Volume 45, Issue 3, Page 752-760, May 2025.
Abstract Purpose This study evaluated newly designed tests to measure near heterophoria, comparing them to the Maddox Wing and Howell card, and assessed whether accommodative responses differed between the different heterophoria test targets. Methods Near horizontal heterophoria of 20 visually normal young adults was measured using the Maddox Wing ...

Prospective clinical study to find out epidemiology of presbyopia in a prepresbyopic population (age group 34–40 years)

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ophthalmology and Research, 2019
Background: Several studies have been carried out regarding the epidemiology of presbyopia at or after 40 years of age. Now a day we find the need of presbyopic glasses before the age of 40 years, so we plan this study in pre-presbyopic age group.

Subjective and objective measurements of the amplitude of accommodation: Revisiting the existing methods and clinical evaluation of newer techniques

open access: yesOphthalmic and Physiological Optics, Volume 45, Issue 3, Page 761-768, May 2025.
Abstract Purpose To evaluate the repeatability and agreement of established and newer methods for measuring the amplitude of accommodation in non‐presbyopic and early presbyopic individuals. Methods The amplitude of accommodation of 81 participants was measured using five different methods (two push‐up techniques, two minus lens techniques and one ...
