Stretchable electronic platform for soft and smart contact lens applications [PDF]
A stretchable platform with spherical-shaped electronics based on thermo- plastic polyurethane (TPU) is introduced for soft smart contact lenses. The low glass transition temperature of TPU, its relatively low hardness, and its proven biocompatibility (

Have Autocrats Governed for the Long Term?
ABSTRACT The short answer is: probably not. We infer the priorities of national governments from observed outcomes, constructing a statistical proxy for long‐term benevolence. Using data between 1960 and 2019 for more than 100 countries, we show that, on average, democracies score more highly on our measure.

Dysfunctional Changes in the Lens in Real Clinical Practice
Introduction. Presbyopia is a global problem affecting more than 1.5 billion people worldwide. Projections indicate an increase in the average age of the population to 40 years by 2050, which is associated with an increase in the presbyopia incidence and

Framing Effects in Intertemporal Choices: 3 Two‐Step Experiments
ABSTRACT Framings may affect individuals' choices. In particular, the perception of (implicit) risks and their costs may influence intertemporal choices. In a between‐subjects experimental design, participants are presented choices either in a standard (i.e., current vs.

Static aspects of accommodation: age and presbyopia [PDF]
Although the progressive reduction in accommodative amplitude with increased age is well documented, little is known about several other aspects of static or steady-state accommodation to provide a comprehensive assessment of changes related to age and ...

Oblique effects with multisegment spectacle lenses: 1. Images of a point object
Abstract Introduction Multisegment (MS) spectacles are intended to slow myopia progression by modifying images falling on the peripheral retina. Some published optical treatments of these lenses assume normal incidence of light at the surfaces, but images falling on the peripheral retina are usually associated with oblique ray pencils.

Design, characterization and visual performance of a new multizone contact lens [PDF]
Objectives: To analyze the whole process involved in the production of a new bifocal Multizone Contact Lens (MCL) for presbyopia. Methods: The optical quality of a new MCL was evaluated by ray tracing software in a model eye with pupil different diameters with the lens centered and decentered.

The influence of near point of convergence training on the accommodative facility [PDF]
El propòsit d’aquest estudi pilot era determinar si entrenant el punt pròxim de convergència utilitzant el mètode del push-up durant 3 minuts, la flexibilitat acomodativa millorava per la seva relació d’associació.
