Ablation of LRP6 in alpha‐smooth muscle actin‐expressing cells abrogates lung inflammation and fibrosis upon bleomycin‐induced lung injury

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Low‐density lipoprotein receptor‐related protein 6 (LRP6) is a key receptor for the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf1 (DKK1). DKK1 protein expression is induced in a bleomycin (BLM)‐induced lung injury model. We show that DKK1 induces proinflammatory and profibrotic genes in lung fibroblasts.

An introduction to presentations of monoid acts: quotients and subacts [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
The purpose of this paper is to introduce the theory of presentations of monoids acts. We aim to construct `nice' general presentations for various act constructions pertaining to subacts and Rees quotients. More precisely, given an $M$-act $A$ and a subact $B$ of $A$, on the one hand we construct presentations for $B$ and the Rees quotient $A/B$ using

Characteristics of the Kelch domain containing (KLHDC) subfamily and relationships with diseases

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Kelch protein superfamily includes 63 members, with the KLHDC subfamily having 10 proteins. While their functions are not fully understood, recent advances in KLHDC2's structure and role in protein degradation have highlighted its potential for drug development, especially in PROTAC therapies.

Presentations of Coxeter groups of type $A$, $B$, and $D$ using prefix-reversal generators [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Here we provide three new presentations of Coxeter groups type $A$, $B$, and $D$ using prefix reversals (pancake flips) as generators. We prove these presentations are of their respective groups by using Tietze transformations on the presentations to recover the well known presentations with generators that are adjacent transpositions.

Insertion of the FeB cofactor in cNORs lacking metal inserting chaperones

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nitric oxide reductase is an enzyme found in the bacterial denitrification pathway. The NOR active site contains a non‐heme iron, often, but not always inserted with the assistance of chaperones. Here, we study the insertion of FeB in the subfamily of cNORs lacking chaperones and found a putative channel, conserved in the family, perhaps enabling the ...

Long read sequencing revealed proventricular virome of broiler chicken with transmission viral proventriculitis

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2022
Background Transmissible viral proventriculitis (TVP) causes significant economic loss to the poultry industry. However, the exact causative agents are obscure. Here we examine the virome of proventriculus from specified pathogen free (SPF) chickens that

Structural and mechanistic basis for the regulation of the chloroplast signal recognition particle by (p)ppGpp

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LHCPs are transported to the thylakoid membrane via the (cp)SRP pathway. This process involves a transit complex of (cp)SRP43, (cp)SRP54 and LHCP, which interacts with (cp)FtsY and Alb3 at the membrane. GTP hydrolysis by (cp)SRP54 and (cp)FtsY triggers complex dissociation.

Redundant relators in cyclic presentations of groups [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
A cyclic presentation of a group is a presentation with an equal number of generators and relators that admits a particular cyclic symmetry. We characterise the orientable, non-orientable, and redundant cyclic presentations and obtain concise refinements of these presentations.
