Metabolomics analysis revealed biochemical changes in hepatopancreas and ovary of Litopenaeus vannamei during ovarian maturation

open access: yesAquaculture Reports, 2022
Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is one of the most prevalent crustacean species, understanding the metabolomics during gonad maturation in female L. vannamei is important to understand the regulatory mechanism of reproductive process.

Can the anatomy of abnormal flowers elucidate relationships of the androecial members in the ginger (Zingiberaceae)?

open access: yesEvoDevo, 2020
Background Interpretation of the floral structure of Zingiberaceae has long concentrated on the relationships of the androecial members. It suggested that labellum is composed of two structures rather than three or five, and glands are interpreted either

Bistability preserving model reduction in apoptosis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
Biological systems are typically very complex and need to be reduced before they are amenable to a thorough analysis. Also, they often possess functionally important dynamic features like bistability. In model reduction, it is sometimes more desirable to preserve the dynamic features only than to recover a good quantitative approximation. We present an

Disinfection and Sterilization Using Plasma Technology: Fundamentals and Future Perspectives for Biological Applications

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2019
Recent studies have shown that plasma can efficiently inactivate microbial pathogens such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses in addition to degrading toxins.

Correcting Nuisance Variation using Wasserstein Distance [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Profiling cellular phenotypes from microscopic imaging can provide meaningful biological information resulting from various factors affecting the cells. One motivating application is drug development: morphological cell features can be captured from images, from which similarities between different drug compounds applied at different doses can be ...

The atypical KRASQ22K mutation directs TGF‐β response towards partial epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in patient‐derived colorectal cancer tumoroids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TGF‐β has a complex role in cancer, exhibiting both tumor‐suppressive and tumor‐promoting properties. Using a series of differentiated tumoroids, derived from different stages and mutational background of colorectal cancer patients, we replicate this duality of TGF‐β in vitro. Notably, the atypical but highly aggressive KRASQ22K mutation rendered early‐

The detection, biological function, and liquid biopsy application of extracellular vesicle-associated DNA

open access: yesBiomarker Research
Cell-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs), which carry diverse biomolecules such as nucleic acids, proteins, metabolites, and lipids reflecting their cell of origin, are released under both physiological and pathological conditions.

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.
