Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Autoperfusing Ectothermic Heart-Lung Preservation System

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Surgery, 1989
A portable heart-lung preservation system was developed to enable distant organ procurement. In 8 dogs, a functioning heart-lung system was isolated, cannulated in situ, removed en bloc, and placed into a Plasmalyte-filled, temperature-controlled (15-38 degrees C) chamber.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Privacy Preservation of Nabla Discrete Fractional-Order Dynamic Systems

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
This article investigates the differential privacy of the initial state for nabla discrete fractional-order dynamic systems. A novel differentially private Gaussian mechanism is developed which enhances the system’s security by injecting random noise ...
