Preservative stability and preservative systems
International Journal of Cosmetic Science, 1985SynopsisThe stability of cosmetics must be examined from a chemical, physical and biological viewpoint. Biological stability is dependent on many factors including preservative effectiveness, preservative stability and the levels of initial and in‐use contamination.Bronopol, a highly active preservative with less than ideal stability in alkaline ...

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2001
Better understanding of the mechanisms of ischemia-reperfusion injury, improvement in the technique of lung preservation, and the recent introduction of a new preservation solution specifically developed for the lungs have helped to reduce the incidence of primary graft dysfunction after lung transplantation.

Technologies for Wood Preservation in Historic Preservation [PDF]
Because of the abundant forests of the world, wood is one of the most common materials found in historic buildings. Wood is relatively easy to fabricate into beams, columns, and roof systems using simple hand tools. However, because of its biological origin, wood is one of the most complex constructions materials.

Edge-Preserving and Peak-Preserving Smoothing
Technometrics, 1992An alternative procedure is developed to the smoothed linear fitting method of McDonald and Owen. The procedure is based on the detection of discontinuities by comparing, at any given position, three smooth fits. Diagnostics are used to detect discontinuities in the regression function itself (edge detection) or in its first derivative (peak detection).

Fertility Preservation in Women
New England Journal of Medicine, 2013In women, ∼10% of cancers occur in those 90% of girls and young women with diseases that require such treatments. However, these treatments can result in premature ovarian failure, depending on the follicular reserve, the age of the patient and the type and dose of drugs used.

Global Regulation of Preservatives and Cosmetic Preservatives
2006All countries require that cosmetics sold inside their borders be safe. Part of the safety issue for a cosmetic is freedom from microbial contamination when it is placed on the market and the ability to remain free from contamination during normal and foreseeable use by consumers.
