Corrosion of press-hardened galvanized steel

Corrosion Science, 2012
Abstract Press hardening of hot-dip-galvanized steel sheet yields an innovative product with high strength and reduced weight with drastically increasing industrial importance. This process results in an austenitisation of the steel and a conversion of the 10 μm Zn layer into a 20 μm thick coating consisting of zinc saturated α-iron and Γ-FeZn-phases.

Optimization of Cooling Simulation in Press Hardening

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2011
This paper compares methods used for integration of cooling system in the press hardening simulation. For this purpose an experimental tool was developed and constructed. This tool makes it possible to compare and validate different simulation methods applicable for cooling systems and resolves the question of their importance.

Characterisation of Tool Coatings for Press Hardening

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Hot sheet metal forming is gaining in importance in many fields, because of its capability to produce more complex components than possible with cold forming. Hot forming is also used to influence the final material properties with the hot forming of manganese-boron steels being a good example.

Bake-partitioning in a press-hardening steel

Scripta Materialia, 2019
Abstract Bake-partitioning, a process integrating paint-baking of car-body assembling to induce carbon partitioning into austenite, has been proposed for enhancing the ductility of press-hardening steels. Carbon is estimated to diffuse a maximum distance of 2.7 nm in austenite at 170 °C for 20 min.

Press for hardening disks

Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 1978
The press can be used for heat treating flat parts with a ratio of the thickness to the largest dimension of 1/50 to 1/200 (disks of planting and cultivating machines, plates for various friction clutches in tractors, automobiles, etc.).

Characterization of the Bendability of Press‐Hardened 22MnB5 Steel

steel research international, 2014
The bendability of press‐hardened 22MnB5 steel was used as evaluation criterion to assess the ability of a press‐hardened part to deform plastically in side impact crash conditions. The initiation sites of crack initiating shear bands during the bending operation of press‐hardened 22MnB5 steel were found to be formed by surface roughening.

Strain hardening of a powder body in pressing

Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics, 2009
The compaction of powders in a press mold is analyzed using the theory of plasticity for porous and powder bodies and a rheological model that includes elastic, viscous, and plastically hardenable elements of the matrix forming a porous deformable body.
