Determination of pressure balance distortion coefficient and zero-pressure effective area uncertainties [PDF]
The behaviour of piston-cylinder operated pressure balances is characterized by the distortion coefficient λ and zero-pressure effective area A0 which model the variation of a pressure balance’s area in terms of the ...

Compensating for pneumatic distortion in pressure sensing devices [PDF]
A technique of compensating for pneumatic distortion in pressure sensing devices was developed and verified. This compensation allows conventional pressure sensing technology to obtain improved unsteady pressure measurements. Pressure distortion caused by frictional attenuation and pneumatic resonance within the sensing system makes obtaining unsteady ...

Effect of insert plate on the inlet pressure distortion of the aero-engine
The shape of the inlet duct and other factors cause distortion of the total pressure, leading to a decrease in engine stability. This article inserts flat plate into the inlet port of a certain type of aviation turbojet engine to conduct an inlet ...

Lattice distortion of quantum cryocrystals under pressure [PDF]
The hcp lattice distortion parameter δ, the deviation of the ratio c∕a from the ideal hcp value 8∕3, is calculated for solid He under pressure, taking into account two- and three-body interatomic forces. The resulting lattice distortion parameter is small and negative, i.e., the lattice is slightly flattened compared with the ideal hcp lattice.

Esophageal pressure as an estimate of average pleural pressure with lung or chest distortion in rats [PDF]
Pressure-volume curves of the lungs and chest wall require knowledge of an effective 'average' pleural pressure (Pplav), and are usually estimated using esophageal pressure as Ples-V and Pwes-V curves. Such estimates could be misleading when Ppl becomes spatially non-uniform with lung lavage or shape distortion of the chest.

Subharmonic Distortion in Ear Canal Pressure and Intracochlear Pressure and Motion [PDF]
When driven at sound pressure levels greater than ~110 dB stimulus pressure level, the mammalian middle ear is known to produce subharmonic distortion. In this study, we simultaneously measured subharmonics in the ear canal pressure, intracochlear pressure, and basilar membrane or round window membrane velocity, in gerbil.

Adverse pressure gradients can cause severe flow separation within typical S-shaped inlets. This results in a total pressure distortion at the aerodynamic interface plane (AIP).

Mutual stabilization of charge-density-wave and monoclinic distortion in sulfur at high pressures
The charge-density-wave (CDW) amplitude mode of the high-pressure sulfur-IV phase is observed between 83 and 146 GPa using Raman spectroscopy. The energy of this excitation softens with pressure yet remains finite at ν_{CDW}>100cm^{−1} up to the critical

Numerical investigation of the real and ideal gap profiles in the calculation of the pressure distortion coefficient and piston fall rate of an LNE 200 MPa pressure balance [PDF]
This paper aims to investigate, by means of numerical simulation, the effect of gap profiles on the calculation of the pressure distortion coefficient (λ) and the piston fall rate (vf) of two piston-cylinder units used in a Laboratoire National de ...

Effect of inlet distortion with crosswind on aircraft-engine intake aerodynamic performance
This paper describes an experimental study on inlet distortion in the flow ingested to an intake of a ducted fan. Recent high bypass ratio engines tend to shorten the nacelle length for better fuel consumption.
