Continuous phase transition and negative specific heat in finite nuclei [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The liquid-gas phase transition in finite nuclei is studied in a heated liquid-drop model where the nuclear drop is assumed to be in thermodynamic equilibrium with its own evaporated nucleonic vapor conserving the total baryon number and isospin of the ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Two-phase flow characterization in PEM fuel cells using machine learning

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2020
This work presents a novel application of machine learning to identify the two-phase flow pressure drop in a flow channel of a proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell.

Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Analysis on hydraulic adaptability and pressure drop factors of low-pressure pipe network in coal-bed methane field

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
Because the coal-bed methane field is influenced by factors such as low pressure, slow velocity, terrain, and condensed water, which lead to the fact that the design is different from gathering design of conventional gas field, how to make full use of ...

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Hydrodynamic Characteristic and Prediction Study of 1, 1, 1, 2-Tetrafluoroethane under Supercritical Pressure [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
The supercritical organic Rankine cycle (S-ORC) is highly effective for utilizing medium- and low-temperature heat sources. This study investigated the hydrodynamic behavior of supercritical-pressure 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (R134a) within a horizontal ...

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

The spray characteristic of gas-liquid coaxial swirl injector by experiment

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
Using the laser phase Doppler particle analyzer (PDPA), the spray characteristics of gas-liquid coaxial swirl injector were studied. The Sauter mean diameter (SMD), axial velocity and size data rate were measured under different gas injecting pressure ...
