Proteins in electric fields and pressure fields: experimental results

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure and Molecular Enzymology, 1998
Experimental results obtained by Stark effect and pressure tuning optical spectroscopy are discussed with the emphasis on studies aimed at unraveling the coupling of prosthetic groups to proteins. A comparative, detailed analysis is given concerning the coupling of the heme group to the apoprotein in various heme proteins based on spectral hole burning

Pressure sensitive paint for oscillating pressure fields measurements

ICIASF 99. 18th International Congress on Instrumentation in Aerospace Simulation Facilities. Record (Cat. No.99CH37025), 2003
The paper describes the main problems encountered during investigations of the oscillating pressure fields by the Fast Binary Pressure Sensitive Paint (FBPSP). This formulation has response time in the millisecond range and provides compensation of the model displacements and excitation light instability.

Invasive Pressure Monitors: Leveling the Playing Field

Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia, 2023
Invasive pressure monitors are ubiquitous in cardiothoracic and vascular anesthesia. This technology allows beat-to-beat assessment of central venous, pulmonary, and arterial blood pressures during surgery, procedural interventions, and critical care.

Diamond field emitter pressure sensor

IVMC '95. Eighth International Vacuum Microelectronics Conference. Technical Digest (Cat. No.TH8012), 2002
We report the design and fabrication technology of a diamond field emitter pressure sensor using a five mask fabrication process. Photoresist is used as a sacrificial layer to produce a vacuum gap between aluminum diaphragm anode and diamond cathode.

Pressure field near counterrotating propellers1

International Shipbuilding Progress, 1962
Expressions for the vibratory pressure field produced by an operating counterrotating propeller system are developed in terms of first and second blade harmonics of the individual propellers. It is found that the pressure signal due to a counterrotating propeller can be obtained from the summation of the pressure fields of its two components as though ...

Measuring Surface Pressure with Far Field Acoustics

15th AIAA/CEAS Aeroacoustics Conference (30th AIAA Aeroacoustics Conference), 2009
This paper introduces a new method for measuring the spectral character of wall pressure fluctuations under turbulent boundary layers by measuring the sound that they radiate in the presence of hydrodynamically smooth sinusoidal ridges in the surface. The theoretical basis for the method and experimental tests demonstrating its viability are described.

Intraocular pressure alterations after visual field testing

Japanese Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014
To determine whether intraocular pressure (IOP) is significantly altered after visual field (VF) testing in eyes with open-angle glaucoma (OAG).A prospective clinical trial of 106 OAG patients who had not had any previous surgical interventions. IOP was measured with a non-contact tonometer and refractive error with an auto refractometer.

Pressure calculation in hybrid particle-field simulations

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2010
In the framework of a recently developed scheme for a hybrid particle-field simulation techniques where self-consistent field (SCF) theory and particle models (molecular dynamics) are combined [J. Chem. Phys. 130, 214106 (2009)], we developed a general formulation for the calculation of instantaneous pressure and stress tensor.

Quantized-field approach to pressure-induced resonances

Physical Review A, 1989
Using a fully quantized dressed-atom approach, we present a theory and interpretation of the pressure-induced resonances in four-wave mixing (PIER4) that may arise when three incident fields interact with an ensemble of two-level atoms. The PIER4 resonances are seen to arise from a collisionally created modulation of a dressed-state population when an ...
