Discovering Early‐Stage Gas Generation Kinetics Enables Thermal Runaway Early Warning in Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Operando gas diagnostics reveal a previously unrecognized chemical activation (CA) stage during thermal runaway in lithium‐ion batteries. A physics‐informed gas generation kinetics network (GGKNet) is developed to reconstruct reaction pathways and physical models automatically.

Numerical Study on Pressure Oscillations in a Solid Rocket Motor with Backward Step Configuration Under Two-Phase Flow Interactions

open access: yesAerospace
The pressure oscillation caused by vortex–acoustic coupling is one of the main gain factors that results in the combustion instability of motors. Focusing on a solid rocket motor with a backward step configuration that can generate a corner vortex, this ...

Absorption of Broadband Low‐Frequency Sound Beyond the Thermodynamics Limit: An Acoustic Resonator With Magnetic Bearing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a magnetic‐bearing acoustic resonator that overcomes the thermodynamics limit of sound absorption. By introducing tunable negative stiffness, it achieves broadband low‐frequency absorption within a compact cavity, far exceeding the performance achievable by classic mass‐tuned designs.

Improving Combined Cycle Performance with Pressure Gain Combustion in the Gas Turbine

open access: yesProcesses
Pressure Gain Combustion (PGC) is an interesting emerging concept to enhance the performance of gas turbines currently based on the Brayton–Joule cycle. Focusing on a F-class gas turbine for land-based power generation, the current work investigates PGC potential in both simple and combined cycle operations by means of an in-house simulation software ...
