Design and application of a new type of wound ruler for measuring pressure injuries (一种新型压力性损伤测量尺的设计与应用)

open access: yes中西医结合护理
Pressure injuries are local damage to the skin or underlying tissue caused by the combined action of pressure and shear forces, usually in areas where bones protrude.

Computational analysis of factors affecting the probability of survival in trauma injuries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A preliminary computational analysis of a number of factors affecting the probability of survival in trauma injuries was carried out. The study examined the manner the types and extent of body injuries, specific body regions affected by the injuries ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Quantification of muscle fiber malformations using edge detection to investigate chronic muscle pressure ulcers

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioinformatics
BackgroundMicroscopy of regenerated tissue shows different morphologies between the healing of acute wounds and chronic wounds. This difference can be seen manually by biologists, but computational methods are needed to automate the characterization of ...

Reducing hospital-acquired pressure injuries

open access: yesBMJ Open Quality, 2019
Hospital-acquired pressure injury is a common preventable condition. Our hospital is a 144-bed governmental hospital in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that was found to have a 7.5% prevalence of hospital-acquired pressure injury in 2016.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Minimally manipulated autologous cell therapy for pressure injury management in spinal cord injury: an in vitro seminal study

open access: yesEuropean Cells & Materials
Background: Pressure injuries (PIs) remain a formidable challenge in patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) due to their reduced regenerative capacity. This study established an in vitro platform for a minimally manipulated autologous cell-based approach

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

The Effect of Practices by Caregiver Mothers of Children with Tracheostomies at Home on the Occurrence of Pressure Ulcers

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Emergency and Intensive Care Medicine
Introduction: Children with tracheostomies who are bedridden at home are vulnerable to the risk of pressure ulcers. This study aimed to determine the practices made by mothers, who care for their children with tracheostomy at home, for pressure ulcers ...
