Clinical Validation of Plasma p‐217tau in Neurological Diseases

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Plasma p‐217tau is a minimally invasive but specific biomarker for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, its disease specificity remains to be clinically evaluated. We validated the reliability of the p‐217tau biomarker in 12 other neurological diseases.

Nutritional Support for Prevention and Treatment of Pressure Injuries in Adults: An Integrative Narrative Literature Review

open access: yesInternational Journal for Vitamin and Nutrition Research
Introduction and Objectives: Pressure injuries (PIs) are a significant issue for international healthcare systems. Particularly common among older adults with reduced mobility, PIs represent a considerable socio-healthcare burden ...

Prediction of survival probabilities with Bayesian Decision Trees [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Practitioners use Trauma and Injury Severity Score (TRISS) models for predicting the survival probability of an injured patient. The accuracy of TRISS predictions is acceptable for patients with up to three typical injuries, but unacceptable for patients

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Optimal l-arginine dosage for pressure injury healing in home care settings: a six-month retrospective analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
BackgroundPressure injuries present a significant challenge for patients receiving home care, particularly those with limited mobility. Although l-arginine supplementation has shown promise for wound healing, the optimal dosage remains unclear.

Added Prognostic Value of EEG Reactivity in Comatose Patients Following Cardiac Arrest

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To evaluate the added prognostic value of EEG reactivity for favorable outcome compared with background analysis during and after targeted temperature management (TTM). Methods Prospective observational cohort study of comatose post–cardiac arrest patients admitted to a single academic center between 2017 and 2022, all undergoing ...

White Matter Hyperintensity Burden and Short‐Interval Change Associated With Sleep Apnoea in the UK Biobank

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Purpose White matter hyperintensities (WMH) are a core neuroimaging marker of cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD). Sleep apnoea (SA) is a recognized vascular risk factor, but its associations with regional WMH burden, short‐interval WMH change and cognitive performance in population‐based cohorts remain incompletely defined. We

Inter‐device agreement of sacral subepidermal oedema measurement in healthy adults during prolonged 60° head of bed elevation

open access: yesNursing Open
Aim To investigate the level of agreement between the SEM 200 and Provisio® subepidermal moisture sacral delta measurements, which may indicate increased pressure injury risk, in healthy adults during 120 min of prolonged 60° head of bed elevation.

Memory and Resting‐State Connectivity in Acute Transient Global Amnesia: A Case–Control fMRI Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a striking model of isolated amnesia. While hippocampal lesions are well described, the network‐level mechanisms and the precise neuropsychological profile remain debated. Our objective was thus to characterize functional and neuropsychological correlates of acute TGA and their ...
