Unravelling the Secret of Sulfur Confinement and High Sulfur Utilization in Hybrid Sulfur‐Carbons

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thermal condensation of inverse vulcanized sulfur‐carbon hybrids enables a bottom‐up sulfur confinement strategy, in which a protective carbon phase is progressively constructed around sulfur species. The resulting carbon nanodomains covalently tether sulfur chains and stabilize radical intermediates. This integrated architecture effectively suppresses

Adaptive Twisting Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces torque‐controlled twisting metamaterials as a transformative platform for adaptive crashworthiness. By combining multiscale predictive modeling with experimental validation on additively manufactured gyroids, it demonstrates tunable stiffness, collapse stress, and energy absorption.

Subglottal Pressure Oscillations Accompanying Phonation

Journal of Voice, 2013
Acoustic and aerodynamic properties of the voice source and vocal tract have been extensively analyzed during the last half century. Corresponding investigations of the subglottal system are rare but can be assumed to be relevant to voice production. In the present exploratory study, subglottal pressure was recorded in a male adult subject by means of ...

Oscillating balloon angioplasty: Does pressure oscillation reach the balloon?

Catheterization and Cardiovascular Diagnosis, 1996
Oscillating pressure inflations may minimize trauma to the coronary artery during coronary angioplasty. We measured in vitro diameters of polyolepin copolymer compliant angioplasty balloons (as a surrogate for pressure) during pressure oscillation at the inflator to determine if pressure oscillations at the inflator were conducted to the balloon ...

SELF-OSCILLATING PARAMETRIC PRESSURE SENSORS

Herald of Khmelnytskyi National University. Technical sciences, 2022
Self-oscillating parametric pressure sensors are proposed based on transistor microelectronic structures with negative differential resistance with primary strain-sensing resistor and diode, and the primary strain-sensing elements are active elements of the self-oscillator circuit, which simplifies the design of pressure sensors. It is also proposed to

Pressure oscillations in a chemical garden

Physical Review E, 2009
When soluble metal salts are placed in a silicate solution, chemical gardens grow. These gardens are treelike structures formed of long thin hollow tubes. The growth is driven by the increase in internal pressure from osmosis. One particular case is examined here, calcium chloride in a solution of sodium trisilicate.

Blood pressure oscillations in baroreflex failure

Clinical Autonomic Research, 2016
A 67-year-old man presented with labile hypertension and orthostatic hypotension after radical neck dissection and radiotherapy for squamus cell carcinoma. Baroreflex failure is clearly evident on autonomic testing.

Heat transfer with oscillating pressure and oscillating flow

Proceedings of the 24th Intersociety Energy Conversion Engineering Conference, 2003
Heat exchangers in Stirling engines and many other reciprocating machines operating under conditions of both oscillating pressure and oscillating flow are discussed. Experiments were done on an apparatus consisting of a piston-cylinder space connected to an annular dead-end heat exchanger space.

Pressure sensitive paint for oscillating pressure fields measurements

ICIASF 99. 18th International Congress on Instrumentation in Aerospace Simulation Facilities. Record (Cat. No.99CH37025), 2003
The paper describes the main problems encountered during investigations of the oscillating pressure fields by the Fast Binary Pressure Sensitive Paint (FBPSP). This formulation has response time in the millisecond range and provides compensation of the model displacements and excitation light instability.

Base Pressure of Oscillating Circular Cylinders

Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1976
Experiments have been made to investigate the base pressure coefficients of circular cylinders oscillating transversely in a stream for a wide range of cylinder amplitudes and frequencies. This is thought to give a good indication of the variation in drag coefficient.
