The problem of cracks in CRDM vessel head penetrations calls for specific inspection techniques to detect potential defects in such nozzles without dismantling the CRDMs and the thermal sleeve. Using specific, thin eddy current coils, defects have been detected with a depth of less than 1 mm.

Intraocular Pressure and Corneal Thickness After Penetrating Keratoplasty

We correlated the intraocular pressure readings and measurements of corneal thickness in 71 patients who had had penetrating keratoplasties and found that in the acute post keratoplasty period, increased intraocular pressure caused corneal thinning rather than thickening.

A correlation has been developed which, with engineering accuracy, correlates the jet penetration data available in the literature obtained from fluidized beds of sand (/rho/sub //p.2629 kg/m/sup 3/), FMC char (/rho/sub //p.1158 kg/m/sup 3/), and siderite (/rho/sub //p.3988 kg/m/sup 3/) at pressures ranging up to 5300 kPa (approximately 53 atm).

Turgor pressure and the mechanics of fungal penetration

This article explores the relationship between cellular turgor pressure and mechanisms used by fungi to invade solid substrates. In the oomycete Saprolegnia ferax, the rate of hyphal growth through solid medium decreases as turgor is reduced and the effect is most pronounced at high agar concentrations.
