Fluid penetration through a crack in a pressure gradient
Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1993We investigate invasion percolation fingers in a quenched medium in which the randomness has a gradient following a power law both in the direction of the flow and perpendicular to it. The first gradient corresponds to a pressure gradient, the second one to the density of microcracks that arises in a self-organized way around a large crack.

Liquid Penetration Pressures for Fabrics Tested in Compression
2000A new mechanical test apparatus for the evaluation of liquid penetration of barrier fabrics has been developed. The apparatus is similar to that used for ASTM Standard Test Method for Resistance of Materials Used in Protective Clothing to Penetration by Synthetic Blood Using a Mechanical Pressure Technique (F 1819), with a few important differences ...

PENETRATION OF TISSUE BY DIESEL OIL UNDER PRESSURE
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1941The rapidly increasing use of high pressure appliances in industry, in which oil or grease under 4,000 to 7,000 pounds pressure is forced through small caliber openings generating an energy when misdirected, will undoubtedly result in severe tissue damage, often resulting in necessity for amputation of fingers or other parts affected.

Cracking of a Pressure Vessel Due to Penetration by Solder
2019Abstract A portable propane container with a name-plate soldered onto it exploded in service. When the vessel was inspected afterwards, it was found to have developed a crack in the top end plate. A portion of the end plate cut out to include the midlength and one termination of the crack was examined microscopically.

Elevated intraocular pressure following penetrating keratoplasty.
Transactions of the American Ophthalmological Society, 1990IOP was retrospectively studied in 229 consecutive cases of PK, with a mean follow-up period of 84 weeks. Twenty-seven percent of the cases had preoperative glaucoma, three-fourths of which were medically controlled prior to keratoplasty. Following PK, 34% of the total sample developed sustained elevated IOP but only five (2%) patients required ...

28—A PENETRATION TEST FOR RESISTANCE TO PRESSURE DYEING
Journal of the Textile Institute Transactions, 1958An apparatus simulating the conditions set up during pressure dyeing is described. The fibres to be tested are cut to short staple, opened and blown to random state and allowed to form a bed inside a specially designed penetration chamber. A specific hydrostatic pressure (5.lb/sq. in.) is maintained by a mercury safety valve giving constant head.
