Location‐Specific Hematoma Volume Predicts Early Neurological Deterioration in Supratentorial ICH

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Early neurological deterioration (END) adversely affects outcomes in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). This study aimed to determine the location‐specific hematoma volumes for END in supratentorial ICH patients. Methods We retrospectively analyzed supratentorial ICH patients presenting from two prospective cohorts.

Characterization of Pressure Pulsation Propagation in a Pump‐Turbine Based on the Same‐Frequency Tracking Method

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering
Pressure pulsation is a key factor affecting the safe and stable operation of pump‐turbines. This article is based on same frequency‐tracking method on the pressure pulsation propagation characteristics of pump‐turbine during generation mode.

Effect of Venous Pressure on Volume Pulsation

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1939
In a previous study it was noted that, with ligation of the main venous outlet from the lower extremity of the dog, a marked reduction in peripheral pulse volume occurred.1 The present observations were made to throw some light on the mechanism of these changes. In 14 dogs the volume of pulsations in the hind foot was determined by adapting a specially ...

The Role of Calcitonin Gene‐Related Peptide in High‐Altitude Headache: A Prospective Field Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective High‐altitude headache (HAH) is a common neurological condition associated with rapid ascent to high altitude. The pathophysiological mechanisms underlying HAH remain incompletely understood. Calcitonin gene‐related peptide (CGRP), a neuropeptide implicated in migraine pathophysiology, may play a key role in the pathophysiology of ...

Reduction of Pressure Pulsations over a Wide Frequency Range in Hydrostatic Systems

open access: yesMachines
This article points out some of the forces acting on the components of a hydraulic system. These forces can lead to changes in the spectrum of pressure pulsations under certain conditions.

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Disadvantageous effects of vibrations on the micro-hydraulic relief valve: experimental approach

open access: yesAviation
The paper discusses the negative impact of external mechanical vibrations, which lead to the malfunction of drive systems, particularly affecting hydrostatic drives.

Influence of Second Viscosity on Pressure Pulsation [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
A mathematical model of pulsating flow is proposed in the paper. The model includes more accurate description of energy dissipation, so it allows, for example, better stability analysis of water power plant control and more effective operation. Flow in a pipeline system is usually treated as a one-dimensional flow.

A 17 Year Old With Developmental Delay Presenting With Increasing Confusion and Imbalance

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Methylmalonic acidemia is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder primarily caused by defects in methylmalonyl‐CoA mutase and cobalamin (vitamin B12) metabolism. These defects disrupt the tricarboxylic acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation, leading to the abnormal accumulation of metabolic products such as methylmalonic acid, propionic acid,

Selected reasons for pressure pulsation in hydrostatic Systems

open access: yes, 2022
