Active Reduction of Pressure Ripple in Power Steering Systems

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1999
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The fluid borne noise in the power steering system of an automobile can couple with the chassis vibrational modes to produce audible noise in the passenger compartment. If the pressure ripple produced by the power steering pump, which is the main source of fluid borne noise, is reduced, the automobiles can be made ...

Pressure ripple amplification within a hydraulic pressure energy harvester via Helmholtz resonator

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2015
Noise within a hydraulic system is a high-intensity ambient energy source that can be harvested to enable wireless sensor nodes. The noise is typically due to deterministic sources, generally caused by pumps and actuators, and has dominant frequency components around hundreds of Hertz.

Wilton ripples generated by a moving pressure distribution

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2002
The two-dimensional steady potential free surface flow due to a pressure distribution moving at a constant velocity at the surface of a fluid of infinite depth is considered. The effects of gravity and surface tension are included in the dynamic boundary condition.

Harmonic distortion reduction on vibrators — Suppressing the supply pressure ripples

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2007, 2007
Summary Due to non-linear effects, the ground-force signal transmitted into the subsurface by vibrators is contaminated by harmonics. Hydraulic power supply pressure fluctuations contribute to the overall harmonic content of the vibrator output. Supply pressure ripple is rich in even harmonic distortion and strongly dominated by the 2 nd harmonic.

Elastohydrodynamic Pressure Rippling in Cylinders Finished with a Circumferential Lay

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Mechanical Engineering Science, 1986
A heavy load analytic theory is developed which describes the way in which surface asperities cause variations in hydrodynamic pressure in an elastohydrodynamic conjunction. The theory is restricted to rigid sinusoidal asperities with a circumferential lay.

On the Pressure Rippling and Roughness Deformation in Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication of Rough Surfaces

Journal of Tribology, 1993
The objective of this paper is to conduct a qualitative analysis on the effects of lubricant shear thinning, lubricant shear heating and the roughness-induced transients on the pressure rippling and roughness deformation that occurs under elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) conditions.
