Autonomous Locomotion of Tensegrity Structure on Low‐Temperature Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A low‐temperature responsive tensegrity structure (LRTS) is constructed by integrating low‐responsive temperature liquid crystal elastomer (LCE) cables, nonresponsive cables, and stiff rods. The low phase transition temperature of LCE is achieved by introducing a new liquid crystal mesogen.

Estimation of Prestress Force Distribution in Multi-Strand System of Prestressed Concrete Structures Using Field Data Measured by Electromagnetic Sensor

open access: yesSensors, 2016
The recently developed smart strand can be used to measure the prestress force in the prestressed concrete (PSC) structure from the construction stage to the in-service stage.

Compliant Pneumatic Feet with Real‐Time Stiffness Adaptation for Humanoid Locomotion

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A compliant pneumatic foot with real‐time variable stiffness enables humanoid robots to adapt to changing terrains. Using onboard vision and pressure control, the foot modulates stiffness within each gait cycle, reducing impact forces and improving balance. The design, cast in soft silicone with embedded air chambers and Kevlar wrapping, offers durable,

Effect of fine particle content on shear characteristics of geogrid-reinforced gravelly soil

open access: yesShuiwen dizhi gongcheng dizhi
Over prolonged service periods, reinforced gravel soil subgrades are susceptible to deterioration in interfacial mechanical properties due to the intrusion of fine particles. However, few studies focus on the interface of fine-grained polluted soil.

Prestress-controlled asymmetric wave propagation and reciprocity-breaking in tensegrity metastructure

open access: yes, 2020
In this letter, prestress is harnessed to break the spatial or/and time wave reciprocity and realize asymmetric elastic wave propagations in the full elastodynamic context. Unlike other asymmetric wave systems that rely on the complicated microstructures

3D‐Printing Aided Rapid Prototyping of Pretensioned Tensegrity Structures for Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Printing, injection molding, and assembly (PMA) is a method for rapid prototyping mesoscale, topologically complex, and tensioned tensegrity structures. In combination with PMA method, two mold design strategies: modular mold and compact channel layout, enable efficiency and scalability for tensegrity fabrication.
