Torsion in plain and prestressed concrete beams containing polypropylene fibres

Synopsis Torsion tests on 23 plain and prestressed concrete beams containing polypropylene fibres are presented and discussed. The addition of these fibres to concrete is shown to improve the post-peak ductility, though there is no change in the ultimatc torsional capacity of the beams tested.

Analysis and application of prestressed concrete reactor vessels for LMFBR containment

Abstract An analytical model of a prestressed concrete reactor vessel (PCRV) for LMFBR and the associated finite element computer code, involving an explicit time integration procedure, is described. The model is axisymmetric and includes simulations of the tensile cracking of concrete, the reinforcement, and a prestressing capability.
