The Effect of Aging Time on the Hardening of Adhesives for Retard-Bonded Prestressed Tendon

open access: yesBuildings
This study investigates the hardening behavior of adhesives used in retard-bonded prestressed tendons, with a focus on establishing a quantitative relationship between aging time and Shore hardness to enable rapid on-site assessment of curing degree ...

Influence of local displacements and stresses on combined string structure

open access: yesMokslas: Lietuvos Ateitis, 2022
The article discusses the combined string construction of a single span. 2 load methods are analyzed when the structure is loaded with a distributed load and when the structure is loaded with concentrated loads on the struts.

Numerical investigation of the impact of rail seat abrasion on the performance of pre-stressed concrete railways [PDF]

open access: yesمهندسی و مدیریت ساخت, 2023
In addition to higher carrying capacity, ballastless railways require lower maintenance costs than ballasted ones. Nevertheless, the rail seat abrasion (RSA) is one of the most important factors of damage to the slab railways.

Bond modelling of prestressed concrete during the prestressing force release [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials and Structures, 2010
This paper presents an analytical model for simulating the bond between steel and concrete, in precast prestressed concrete elements, during the prestressing force release. The model establishes a relationship between bond stress, steel and concrete stress and slip in such concrete structures.

Prestress loss of prestressing tendons with asymmetrical layout parabolas [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 5th International Conference on Civil Engineering and Transportation 2015, 2015
According to the equilibrium condition of geometry relationship, we derived the formulas that can be used to calculate the loss of prestress of prestressing tendons with the double-end tensioning and the asymmetrical arrangement parabolic curves.

Cellular Responses to Mechanical Cues Across Scales: From Fundamental Insights to Translational Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how cellular behavior is regulated by mechanical cues transmitted through soft biomaterials, from single‐cell mechanosensing to tissue‐level adaptation. It highlights why physiological relevance, rather than model complexity alone, is critical for translational mechanobiology and introduces a scoring framework linking material ...

Topology and Material Optimization in Ultra‐Soft Magneto‐Active Structures: Making Advantage of Residual Anisotropies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Residual magnetization induces pronounced mechanical anisotropy in ultra‐soft magnetorheological elastomers, shaping deformation and actuation even without external magnetic fields. This study introduces a computational‐experimental framework integrating magneto‐mechanical coupling into topology optimization for designing soft magnetic actuators with ...

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

On the Evaluation of Prestress Loss in PRC Beams by Means of Dynamic Techniques

open access: yesInternational Journal of Concrete Structures and Materials, 2018
In the last few decades, prestressing techniques have been used to build very important structures and infrastructures. Since the serviceability and the safety of prestressed reinforced concrete (PRC) elements rely on the effective state of prestressing,

Parametric Study of Drilling Method Performed on One-Way Post-Tensioned Slabs

open access: yesCivil and Environmental Engineering, 2023
Determination of the stress state in concrete structures is a very important, but difficult task. In the case of new structures, it is possible to easily instal measurement instruments which can provide important data as a part of real-time monitoring ...
