The effect of sodium hypochlorite enamel pretreatment on the shear bond strength of fissure sealant using a resin-modified glass ionomer cement and a fluoride-releasing self-etch resin adhesive

open access: yesDental Research Journal, 2021
Background: The relative high caries risk of pits and fissures highlights the importance of protecting these areas. The aim is to determine the effect of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) on the shear bond strength (SBS) of resin-based pit and fissure sealant (

Thoracic duct drainage in organ transplantation: Will it permit better immunosuppression? [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
It is possible that thoracic-duct drainage, a major but neglected immunosuppressive adjunct, can have an important impact on organ transplantation.

The influence of hydrogen treatment and catalyst morphology on the interaction of oxygen with a silver catalyst [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The interaction of an unsupported silver catalyst which had been pretreated by hydrogen at various temperatures with oxygen at 210°C has been studied using Temperature Programmed Reduction (TPR) over a temperature range up to 900°C. Hydrogen treatment at

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Photocatalytic Oxidization Based on TiO2/Au Nanocomposite Film for the Pretreatment of Total Phosphorus (TP)

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Phosphorus, an essential rare element in aquatic ecosystems, plays a key role in maintaining ecosystem balance. However, excess phosphorus leads to eutrophication and algal proliferation.

Stress-Induced Cocaine Seeking Requires a Beta-2 Adrenergic Receptor-Regulated Pathway from the Ventral Bed Nucleus of the Stria Terminalis That Regulates CRF Actions in the Ventral Tegmental Area [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The ventral bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (vBNST) has been implicated in stress-induced cocaine use. Here we demonstrate that, in the vBNST, corticotropin releasing factor (CRF) is expressed in neurons that innervate the ventral tegmental area (VTA)

Chemical and physical pretreatments of microalgal biomass [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Non-axenic microalga Chlorella sorokiniana was cultivated in batch cultures, and its total sugar composition was determined. The microalga under study showed a total sugar concentration of 21.44 ± 0.46% (w/w).

Lipopolysaccharide uptake is augmented in lipopolysaccharide‐tolerant mouse macrophage‐like cells via increased CD14 expression

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In normal (nontolerant) cells, CD14 is crucial for both LPS uptake and LPS signaling. In LPS‐tolerant cells, in which LPS‐induced TNF‐α and IFN‐β production is suppressed, there is a dramatic increase in surface CD14 expression. The overexpressed CD14 in LPS‐tolerant cells is responsible for the enhanced LPS uptake without inducing pro‐inflammatory ...

Bio-functionalities of nitrogen based carbon dots from chitosan via in-situ incorporation with nano-copper

open access: yesScientific Reports
Recent researches were considerably interested in the biological performance of carbon dots as a unique member of carbon based-nanomaterials to find widely applicability in various purposes. This study investigates the direct incorporation of nano-copper
