Protein O‐glycosylation in the Bacteroidota phylum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Species of the Bacteroidota phylum exhibit a unique O‐glycosylation system. It modifies noncytoplasmic proteins on a specific amino acid motif with a shared glycan core but a species‐specific outer glycan. A locus of multiple glycosyltransferases responsible for the synthesis of the outer glycan has been identified.

Appropriate time interval to update ambiguous genetic diagnosis in inherited arrhythmogenic syndromes

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Genetic analysis identified the cause of the disease in inherited arrhythmogenic syndromes. A clinically actionable genetic diagnosis requires an accurate interpretation following the current guidelines. Practically half of the genetic diagnoses

Long non‐coding RNAs as therapeutic targets in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and clinical application

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) occupy an abundant fraction of the eukaryotic transcriptome and an emerging area in cancer research. Regulation by lncRNAs is based on their subcellular localization in HNSCC. This cartoon shows the various functions of lncRNAs in HNSCC discussed in this review.

Optimal Survival Analyses With Prevalent and Incident Patients [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Period-prevalent cohorts are often used for their cost-saving potential in epidemiological studies of survival outcomes. Under this design, prevalent patients allow for evaluations of long-term survival outcomes without the need for long follow-up, whereas incident patients allow for evaluations of short-term survival outcomes without the issue of left-
