Night shift: expansion of temporal niche use following reductions in predator density. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Predation shapes many fundamental aspects of ecology. Uncertainty remains, however, about whether predators can influence patterns of temporal niche construction at ecologically relevant timescales. Partitioning of time is an important mechanism by which

Native Prey and Invasive Predator Patterns of Foraging Activity: The Case of the Yellow-Legged Hornet Predation at European Honeybee Hives. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Contrary to native predators, which have co-evolved with their prey, alien predators often benefit from native prey naïveté. Vespa velutina, a honeybee predator originating from Eastern China, was introduced into France just before 2004.

SPG20 protein spartin is recruited to midbodies by ESCRT-III protein Ist1 and participates in cytokinesis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Hereditary spastic paraplegias (HSPs, SPG1-46) are inherited neurological disorders characterized by lower extremity spastic weakness. Loss-of-function SPG20 gene mutations cause an autosomal recessive HSP known as Troyer syndrome.

Foraging conditions for breeding penguins improve with distance from colony and progression of the breeding season at the South Orkney Islands

open access: yesMovement Ecology, 2021
Background According to central place foraging theory, animals will only increase the distance of their foraging trips if more distant prey patches offer better foraging opportunities.

A semi-detritivorous pitcher plant, Nepenthes ampullaria diverges in its regulation of pitcher fluid properties

open access: yesJournal of Plant Interactions, 2022
Tropical pitcher plants (Nepenthes) are carnivorous plants that trap and digest prey using highly modified fluid-filled leaves known as pitchers. Prey are digested by plant-secreted enzymes and pitcher symbionts.

Ashmole's halo: direct evidence for prey depletion by a seabird

open access: yesMarine Ecology Progress Series, 1987
Fish population densities were measured at various instances from 2 large colonies of double-crested cormorants Phalacrocorax auritus to test the hypothesis that seabirds deplete prey close to their colonies. Fish densities were significantly lower in bays used by cormorants for feeding than in those outside their foraging range.

Environmental effects on magnetic fluorescent powder development of fingermarks on bird of prey feathers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A comparison study of the effects of environmental conditions on the development of latent fingermarks on raptor feathers using green magnetic fluorescent powder was undertaken using both sebaceous loaded and natural fingermark deposits.

Use of an Inverse Method for Time Series to Estimate the Dynamics of and Management Strategies for the Box Jellyfish Carybdea marsupialis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Frequently, population ecology of marine organisms uses a descriptive approach in which their sizes and densities are plotted over time. This approach has limited usefulness for design strategies in management or modelling different scenarios. Population

Blue sheep strongly affect snow leopard relative abundance but not livestock depredation in the Annapurna Conservation Area, Nepal

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation, 2022
Large carnivores play key roles in their ecosystems, but their protection is a major challenge in biodiversity conservation due to conflicts with human interests. The snow leopard (Panthera uncia) is the top predator of Asian high-altitude landscapes and
