Free-radical addition of primary alcohols to unsaturated alcohols
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 19621. Reaction, initiated by t-butyl peroxide, between normal primary alcohols and unsaturated alcohols with the double bond in the allyl position leads to 1,4-alkanediols. 2. At molar proportions of saturated alcohol: allyl alcohol: peroxide of 20:1: 0.2–0.3, a reaction time of six hours, and a temperature of 160–170° the yields of 1∶1 ...

The extent of hydration of three primary alcohols in aqueous solution was determined by means of the difference between the fluidities measured at various concentrations and calculated by the Kendall equation. These differences went through a single, pronounced maximum for each of the three binary systems, at compositions corresponding approximately to

Relative reactivities of primary alcohols as substrates of liver alcohol dehydrogenase
Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1968To obtain information concerning the general structural requirement of alcohols as substrates of liver alcohol dehydrogenase, the kinetics of the enzymic oxidation of primary alcohols were studied. All the active substrates possess hydrophobic side groups. Introduction of polar groups renders alcohols inactive or inhibitory.

The Electric Moment of Primary Alcohols
Nature, 1929OF late the question of the permanent dipole moment of polyatomic molecules has been considered of great importance in order to elucidate the nature of forces that interact between the constituent atoms of the molecules.

Alcohol abuse and alcoholism in primary health care settings.
The Journal of family practice, 1991Alcohol problems are common in primary care patients, yet they are often not detected and treated. Methods for improving the detection and diagnosis of alcohol problems in the primary care setting are reviewed in terms of pertinent history, physical examination, and laboratory findings.
