The “gut‐joint axis” in knee synovitis is uncovered. Integrated multi‐omics studies are conducted in two independent osteoarthritis cohorts. Synovitis is characterized an increased F/B ratio, as well as alterations of 3‐HIA, geranic acid, and TWEAK. Upregulated TWEAK receptor is found in high‐grade synovitis, and inversely correlated with lower TWEAK ...

Primary Carnitine Deficiency and Autism Spectrum Disorder is there a Relationship?
Carnitine plays essential role in energy metabolism .Systemic primary carnitine deficiency is a genetic disorder caused by decreased or absent organic cation transporter type 2 (OCTN2) carnitine transporter activity, resulting in low serum carnitine ...

Fluorinated Carnitine Derivatives as Tools to Visualise Carnitine Transport and Metabolism
Fluorinated carnitines, fluoromethyl carnitine (FMC) and [18F]fluoromethyl carnitine ([18F]FMC), are synthesised and established as powerful probes to interrogate carnitine biology. The multimodal detection facilitated by fluorine labelling, including 19F NMR, mass spectrometry, and positron emission tomography imaging, allowed for visualisation of ...

In non‐MASH‐HCC, L‐carnitine promotes tumor progression primarily through its classical role in enhancing fatty acid oxidation (FAO). However, in MASH‐HCC, where FAO is markedly suppressed, L‐carnitine shifts from this canonical function to serve instead as an intracellular acetyl group buffer.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine in Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder: A Multi-Site, Placebo-Controlled Pilot Trial [PDF]
Objective: To determine whether acetyl-L-carnitine (ALC), a metabolite necessary for energy metabolism and essential fatty acid anabolism, might help attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Trials in Down’s syndrome, migraine, and Alzheimer’s

Higher plasma leucine is associated with increased risk of new‐onset myocardial infarction. Leucine deprivation alleviates advanced atherosclerosis in mice. Tumor‐induced leucine deprivation reprograms macrophage metabolism and increases CD5Lhi macrophages in mouse plaques. Mechanistically, leucine deficiency reduced SLC7A5‐PGAM5 binding in macrophages,
