Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Primary operations in differential cohomology

open access: yes, 2017
We characterize primary operations in differential cohomology via stacks, and illustrate by differentially refining Steenrod squares and Steenrod powers explicitly.

A study of $S$-primary decompositions

open access: yesCzechoslovak Mathematical Journal
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with identity and $S \subseteq R$ be a multiplicative set. An ideal $Q$ of $R$ (disjoint from $S$) is said to be $S$-primary if there exists an $s\in S$ such that for all $x,y\in R$ with $xy\in Q$, we have $sx\in Q$ or $sy\in rad(Q)$.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Spatio-temporal variations and disparities of China’s aluminum supply through a gravity-decomposition approach

open access: yesScientific Reports
Despite China’s dominance in global aluminum production, systematic analysis of the spatio-temporal dynamics and regional contributions to its primary and secondary aluminum supply remains limited.

Characteristics of Decomposition Powers of L-Band Multi-Polarimetric SAR in Assessing Tree Growth of Industrial Plantation Forests in the Tropics

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2012
A decomposition scheme was applied to ALOS/PALSAR data obtained from a fast-growing tree plantation in Sumatra, Indonesia to extract tree stem information and then estimate the forest stand volume.

Holographic Conformal Partial Waves as Gravitational Open Wilson Networks

open access: yes, 2016
We propose a method to holographically compute the conformal partial waves in any decomposition of correlation functions of primary operators in conformal field theories using open Wilson network operators in the holographic gravitational dual.

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Combustion Characteristics of HAN-based Green Propellant Assisted with Nanoporous Active Carbons

open access: yesEurasian Chemico-Technological Journal, 2017
Combustion of hydroxylammonium nitrate (95 wt.% HAN) ‒ water solution in presence of high specific surface area activated carbons is investigated in a constant-pressure bomb within the pressure range of 1‒6 MPa.

Parameter Variation in Planetary Ball Milling of Titanium Aluminide Powder in XHV‐Adequate Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the effects of milling parameters, including rotational speed, milling duration, and ball‐to‐powder ratio, on TiAl particle size and morphology in an XHV‐equivalent atmosphere. The creation of oxide‐free surfaces enhances the mechanical properties of green bodies.
