Inherent spatiotemporal uncertainty of renewable power in China

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Solar and wind resources are vital for the sustainable energy transition. Although renewable potentials have been widely assessed in existing literature, few studies have examined the statistical characteristics of the inherent renewable uncertainties ...

Feasibility Study and Economic Analysis of a Fuel-Cell-Based CHP System for a Comprehensive Sports Center with an Indoor Swimming Pool

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Unlike a general commercial building, heating for a building with an indoor swimming pool is highly energy-intensive due to the high energy demand for swimming water heating.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Moderate ethanol exposure disrupts energy homeostasis between central and peripheral system in APP/PS1 mice

open access: yesMolecular Brain
To investigate the effects of moderate ethanol exposure on glucose metabolism in APP/PS1 mice, an early-onset Alzheimer’s disease (AD) mouse model, we employed an fluoro-deoxy-glucose (FDG)-micro-positron emission tomography (PET).

Impact assessment of Chinese mitten crab polyculture on saline-alkali rice fields based on food web models

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
In China, the introduction of Chinese mitten crabs Eriocheir sinensis into saline-alkali rice fields has improved both soil utilization and quality. To promote the development and adoption of this novel rice-cropping mode, this study developed Ecopath ...

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Spectral Signatures of X-ray Scatter Using Energy-Resolving Photon-Counting Detectors

open access: yesSensors, 2019
Energy-resolving photon-counting detectors (PCDs) separate photons from a polychromatic X-ray source into a number of separate energy bins. This spectral information from PCDs would allow advancements in X-ray imaging, such as improving image contrast ...
