NFS1 Regulates IDH2 to Attenuate Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms via Interacting With SP2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The loss of NFS1 leads to its reduced binding with the transcription factor SP2, resulting in decreased expression of the downstream gene Idh2. This causes a shift in energy supply toward glycolysis in VSMCs, ultimately contributing to the occurrence and progression of AAA.

FAPα+ Macrophages Orchestrate Immune Evasion in Multiple Myeloma by Dual Regulation of PD‐L1 and T Cell Senescence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fibroblast activation protein alpha‐positive (FAPα+) macrophages, a distinct subset of multiple myeloma (MM)‐associated macrophages, drive immune evasion in MM through multi‐faceted mechanisms. FAPα physically interacts with vimentin (VIM) and triggers its phosphorylation at the S72 residue, which in turn induces PD‐L1 transcription. Additionally, FAPα

Associated Clinical and Laboratory Markers of Donor on Allograft Function After Heart Transplant

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery
Introduction: Primary graft dysfunction is a major cause of mortality after heart transplantation. Objective: To evaluate correlations between donor-related clinical/biochemical markers and the occurrence of primary graft dysfunction/clinical outcomes ...

Mitochondrial Calcium Uniporter Drives Chemoresistance in Pancreatic Cancer via Glutathione‐Mediated Stemness Maintenance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PDAC has a poor prognosis due to chemoresistance. We revealed that MCU upregulation is associated with chemoresistance and stemness in PDAC. MCU‐mediated Ca2+ influx induced ER stress, activating the PERK‐ATF4/NRF2 axis to enhance PSAT1/SLC711 expression and glutathione synthesis, reducing ROS and maintaining stemness.

Gut Microbiota‐Derived Anandamide Mediates the Therapeutic Effects of Urolithin A on Alcohol‐Induced Cognitive and Social Dysfunction via CB1R‐DRD2‐RAP1 Signaling Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that Urolithin A (UA) counteracts alcohol‐induced cognitive and social dysfunction (AICSD) via a gut microbiome‐dependent mechanism. UA‐enriched Bacteroids sartorii and Parabacteroids distasonis elevate anandamide (AEA), which activates the CB1R‐DRD2‐Rap1 signaling cascade to drive synaptic repair and reduce neuroinflammation ...

Transcontinental heart transplant using SherpaPak cold static storage system

open access: yesJHLT Open
Organ preservation in heart transplantation is key to preventing primary graft dysfunction, the most common cause of early graft loss. Historically, the standard of care was preservation on ice, with no monitoring ability and problems with even ...

Tim1 Deficiency Mediates Gestational Hyperglycemia‐Related Syncytiotrophoblast Dysfunction and Fetal Growth Restriction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hyperglycemia during pregnancy impairs the fusion of trophoblast cells into syncytiotrophoblasts, leading to fetal growth restriction. This impaired fusion is mediated by Tim1 downregulation via hyperglycemia‐induced ROS. Antioxidant therapy during pregnancy promotes syncytiotrophoblast formation by upregulating Tim1 expression, thus alleviating fetal ...

A Patient‐Derived Organ‐on‐Chip Platform for Modeling the Tumor Microenvironment and Drug Responses in Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Researchers have developed a patient‐derived organ‐on‐a‐chip model for pancreatic cancer by integrating cancer cells with supportive stromal and immune cells inside a microfluidic device. This system mimics the tumor microenvironment, enabling personalized testing of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, and offering new insights into how targeting ...

Glycocalyx kinetics and injury during liver procurement and transplantation as predictors of early graft dysfunction

open access: yesFrontiers in Transplantation
IntroductionIschemia–reperfusion injury causes endothelial damage, partly through degradation of the glycocalyx. This study aimed to evaluate glycocalyx degradation from graft procurement to reperfusion and assess its potential as a biomarker of early ...
