Integration of circadian and hypoxia signaling via non‐canonical heterodimerization

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CLOCK, BMAL1, and HIFs are basic helix‐loop‐helix and Per‐Arnt‐Sim domain (bHLH‐PAS) proteins, which function as transcription factors. bHLH‐PAS proteins are designated in two classes. Many class I proteins are regulated by environmental signals via their PAS domains, but such signals have not been identified for all.

Substrate specificity of Burkholderia pseudomallei multidrug transporters is influenced by the hydrophilic patch in the substrate‐binding pocket

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

Herbivory in the Previous Generation Primes Plants for Enhanced Insect Resistance1[W][OA]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 2011
Inducible defenses, which provide enhanced resistance after initial attack, are nearly universal in plants. This defense signaling cascade is mediated by the synthesis, movement, and perception of jasmonic acid and related plant metabolites.

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

BiEntropy, TriEntropy and Primality

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
The order and disorder of binary representations of the natural numbers < 28 is measured using the BiEntropy function. Significant differences are detected between the primes and the non-primes.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Goldbach-Linnik type problems for mixed powers of primes and powers of 2

open access: yesElectronic Research Archive
Let $ p_{1}, p_{2}, \ldots, p_{7} $ be primes. In this paper, we first show that when $ k_{1} = 23 $, every sufficiently large odd integer can be represented as the sum of one prime square, five prime cubes, one prime biquadrate and at most $ k_{1 ...

Investigating the use of semantic primes (semantic universals) in the Iranian 7th grade Junior secondary school English textbook (Prospect 1) [PDF]

open access: yesفصلنامه نوآوری‌های آموزشی, 2017
The present study aimed at investigating the use of semantic primes (semantic universals) in the 7th grade junior secondary school English textbook (prospect1). An electronic version of the textbook was prepared and then the type and the frequency of the

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

The Density of Primes Less or Equal to a Positive Integer up to 20,000: Fractal Approximation

open access: yesRecoletos Multidisciplinary Research Journal, 2013
The highly irregular and rough fluctuations of the number of primes less or equal to a positive integer x for smaller values of x ( x≤20,000) renders the approximations through the Prime Number Theorem quite unreliable. A fractal probability distribution
