Prime Percolation

open access: yesExperimental Mathematics, 1998
This paper examines the question of whether there is an unbounded walk of bounded step size along Gaussian primes. Percolation theory predicts that for a low enough density of random Gaussian integers no walk exists, which suggests that no such walk exists along prime numbers, since they have arbitrarily small density over large enough regions.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Retrospective Prime Reliance: A Flexible Retrospective Mechanism for Semantic Priming in Visual Word Recognition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Recent evidences (Balota et al., 2008; Thomas et al., 2012) suggest that the cognitive system can retrospectively (i.e., after target presentation) increase its reliance on prime information when target-word recognition is made more difficult by ...

System identification in priming of pop-out [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Inter-trial repetitions of a target's features in a visual search task reduce the time needed to find the target. Here I examine these sequential dependencies in the Priming of Pop-Out task (PoP) by means of system identification techniques.

The effect of priming and duration of priming on germination indices and seedling characteristicsof Althaea Officinalis L. plant [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و فناوری بذر ایران, 2015
To study the influence of different priming methods (hardening, hydrothermal, hydro priming, KCl2, CaNO3, NaCl, KNO3 and control) and duration of priming (3 and 6 h) on seedling characteristics and germinationindices of Althaea Officinalis L.

Efficient Prime Counting and the Chebyshev Primes

open access: yesJournal of Discrete Mathematics, 2013
The function where is the logarithm integral and the number of primes up to is well known to be positive up to the (very large) Skewes' number. Likewise, according to Robin's work, the functions and , where and are Chebyshev summatory functions, are positive if and only if Riemann hypothesis (RH) holds.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Delusions, cognitive biases and emotional priming [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Evidence has been accumulated to suggest that cognitive biases in reasoning and information processing would play an important role in the mechanism of delusions (Bentall, 1994; Garety & Hemsley, 1994).

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Neural basis for priming of pop-out during visual search revealed with fMRI

open access: yes, 2007
Malikovic and Nakayama first showed that visual search efficiency can be influenced by priming effects. Even "pop-out" targets (defined by unique color) are judged quicker if they appear at the same location and/or in the same color as on the preceding ...
