The two paralogs of the calcium-dependent activator protein for secretion (CAPS) are priming factors for synaptic vesicles (SVs) and neuropeptide containing large dense-core vesicles (LDCVs). Yet, it is unclear whether CAPS1 and CAPS2 regulate exocytosis

The carboxylation of aromatic compounds with CO2 is an attractive reaction, albeit limited in scope. Now, bulky ligands in a Rh(II) catalysed C–H carboxylation of 2-arylphenols are shown to override the standard ortho/para Kolbe-Schmitt-type regioselectivity allowing instead carboxylation at 2’

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Caractéristiques moléculaires de l'immunité des plantes induite par les rhizobactéries non pathogènes [PDF]
Molecular characteristics of the rhizobacteria-triggered plant immunity. Recognition of certain non-pathogenic rhizobacteria by plants can trigger a systemic resistance reaction that renders the host less susceptible to subsequent infection by a virulent

Encouraging the perceptual underdog: positive affective priming of nonpreferred local–global processes [PDF]
Two experiments examined affective priming of global and local perception. Participants attempted to detect a target that might be present as either a global or a local shape. Verbal primes were used in 1 experiment, and pictorial primes were used in the

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

A rose by any other name: A social-cognitive perspective on poets and poetry [PDF]
Evidence, anecdotal and scientific, suggests that people treat (or are affected by) products of prestigious sources differently than those of less prestigious, or of anonymous, sources. The ``products'' which are the focus of the present study are poems,

Uncanny Sums and Products May Prompt “Wise Choices”: Semantic Misalignment and Numerical Judgments
Automatized arithmetic can interfere with numerical judgments, and semantic misalignment may diminish this interference. We gave 92 adults two numerical priming tasks that involved semantic misalignment.

High capacity heat pipe performance demonstration [PDF]
A high capacity heat pipe which will operate in one-g and in zero-g is investigated. An artery configuration which is self-priming in one-g was emphasized.
