Toward Mechanical Intelligence in Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Robots can use their physical bodies to perform functions usually assigned to electronic sensors and controllers. This perspective defines mechanical intelligence through three core operations: filtering inputs, routing mechanical signals, and switching between states.

Fate mapping identifies the origin of SHF/AHF progenitors in the chick primitive streak [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Heart development depends on the spatio-temporally regulated contribution of progenitor cells from the primary, secondary and anterior heart fields. Primary heart field (PHF) cells are first recruited to form a linear heart tube; later, they contribute ...

Chemical Screening Identifies Danofloxacin as a Self‐Renewal Agonist of Embryonic Stem Cells through Alleviation of HDAC1‐Mediated Deacetylation of Tert and Prdm10

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identified Danofloxacin as a novel supporter of the maintenance of mouse embryonic stem cell (ESC) pluripotency. It functions partially by inhibiting HDAC1, which increases specific histone acetylation marks and activates key genes like Tert and Prdm10.

Charting Endocrine Progenitors Across Species and Organs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Endocrine progenitors give rise to the hormone‐producing cells of the pancreas and intestine. Using single‐cell multiomics and proteomics, this study compares these progenitors across species, systems, and organs, mapping the conserved and species‐specific gene regulatory networks that guide their formation.

État et généalogie de la guerre : l’hypothèse de la « machine de guerre » de Gilles Deleuze et Félix Guattari

open access: yesAstérion, 2005
The problematical point is the relations between the State and war with respect to the notion of « machine of war ». Based on this concept, Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari intend : to analyse the way state machines « capture » social forces in order to

From Primitive Accumulation to Regimes of Dispossession

open access: yes, 2017
In order to analyze land alienation in contemporary India, Shapan Adnan follows a theoretical approach in which mechanisms of primitive accumulation are not restricted to use of force, but include land transfer by agreement, as well as indirect ...

Prime order derangements in primitive permutation groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Let G be a transitive permutation group on a finite set Ω of size at least 2. An element of G is a derangement if it has no fixed points on Ω. Let r be a prime divisor of |Ω|.

Type‐II Dirac Fermions in Monolayer In2O: Interplay of Magnetotransport, Spin Hall Effect, and Superconductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
First‐principles calculations reveal that monolayer In2O${\rm In}_2{\rm O}$ hosts type‐II Dirac fermions near the Fermi level, which split into Weyl points under spin‐orbit coupling. The material exhibits negative and giant magnetoresistance, a pronounced spin Hall effect, and phonon‐mediated superconductivity at 1.5 K, establishing it as a unique ...
