Automata accepting primitive words

open access: yesSemigroup Forum, 1988
Let X be a finite alphabet, \(| X| \geq 2\). A word w over X is said to be primitive if \(w=u\) n implies \(u=w\) and \(n=1\). In this paper, properties of sets of primitive words accepted by finite automata are studied. If a given n-state automaton accepts a primitive word at all it accepts a primitive word whose length does not exceed 3(n-1).

On the Diophantine equation x^2+7^{alpha}.11^{beta}=y^n [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper, we give all the solutions of the Diophantine equation x^2+7^{alpha}.11^{beta}=y^n, in nonnegative integers x, y, n>=3 with x and y coprime, except for the case when alpha.x is odd and beta is even.Comment: to appear in Miskolc Mathematical

Plural strategies in Yoruba

open access: yesStudies in African Linguistics, 2010
This paper accounts for the strategies that Yorùbá adopts to mark plural. One way in which plural is marked syntactically is by certain plural words. The plural word can either interpret the noun as plural directly as in the case of àwọn and quantifying ...

A counterexample to the reconstruction of $\omega$-categorical structures from their endomorphism monoids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We present an example of two countable $\omega$-categorical structures, one of which has a finite relational language, whose endomorphism monoids are isomorphic as abstract monoids, but not as topological monoids -- in other words, no isomorphism between

Heidegger’s ontic relatedness: Pros ti and Mitsein

open access: yesRevista de Filosofia, 2016
Relational structure is a primitive notion of Heidegger’s Dasein. By analyzing the concept of pros-ti as it emerges from the Heidegger’s 1924 course dedicated to Plato’s Sophist, I outline the Platonic and Aristotelic roots of Heideggerian Mitsein ...

Pushes in words-a primitive sorting algorithm

open access: yesContributions to Discrete Mathematics, 2022
We define the statistic of a push for words on an alphabet $[k]$ and use this to obtain a generating function measuring the degree to which an arbitrary word deviates from sorted order. Several subsidiary concepts are investigated: the number of cells that are not pushed, the number of already sorted columns, the number of cells that coincide before ...

Retained primitive reflexes and their relation to speech intelligibility in a sample of Egyptian children

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Otolaryngology
Introduction Primitive reflexes are sensory motor reflexes that serve as the foundation of early motor milestones; their persistence indicates a lag in the maturation of higher cortical functions.
