Vascular plant diversity in Swedish road verges of high conservation value is threatened by the invasive alien herb Lupinus polyphyllus Lindley

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Road verges can be important habitats for vascular plant communities and the organisms that, in turn, depend on them. However, the plant diversity in Swedish road verges is threatened by the invasive perennial plant Lupinus polyphyllus Lindl. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of L.

PRIMULA DERMATITIS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Medical Association, 1912
During the last few years there have appeared in the literature many reports of cases of primrose dermatitis. In the dermatologist's experience a primrose dermatitis is not uncommon. The cases reported by Drs. Sweet, 1 Foerster 2 and Zeisler 3 were caused bythe hothouse or domesticated primrose flowers.

Longevity in plants impacts phylogenetic and population dynamics

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Phylogenies of long‐lived plants often exhibit short molecular branch lengths and high levels of gene‐tree conflict. However, the biological mechanisms underlying these patterns remain unclear. We examine this with simulations and through empirical examination of several large seed plant clades.

Impact of Flower Harvesting on the Salt Marsh Plant \u3cem\u3eLimonium carolinianum\u3c/em\u3e [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Because of the potentially detrimental effects of seed production on adult survivorship and growth, moderate flower harvesting may have little negative impact on population growth of long-lived perennial plants such as Limonium carolinianum (Walter ...

Recombination suppression in plant adaptation and speciation

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Recombination suppression is increasingly recognized as an important facilitator of genomic divergence and speciation, especially under ongoing gene flow. In plants, however, the broader evolutionary consequences and the mechanisms by which recombination suppression arises and spreads are still incompletely understood, reflecting the inherent ...

Reconsideration for conservation units of wild Primula sieboldii in Japan based on adaptive diversity and molecular genetic diversity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Primula sieboldii E. Morren is a perennial clonal herb that is widely distributed in Japan, but indanger of extinction in the wild. In a previous study, we revealed the genetic diversity of the speciesusing chloroplast and nuclear DNA and used this ...

Ruth Glass: London's Gentrification Urban Visionary

open access: yesPopulation, Space and Place, Volume 32, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper analyses the contribution made by Ruth Glass to our understanding of gentrification and class change in London. It argues that not only was she remarkably ahead of her time in identifying and naming this important new phenomenon over 60 years ago, but that her discussion of the social and housing market impacts of gentrification ...

Contributions to the flora and vegetation of Kagbeni (Mustan District, Central Nepal) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Kagbeni and its irrigated oasis are surrounded by subdesert dwarf scrubland. In the present study, a list of 78 species of vascular plants is presented for Kagbeni and its immediate surroundings, supplemented with data on the distribution of the species ...
