Monte Carlo modeling of radiation dose from radiation therapy with superficial x‐rays
Abstract Introduction Superficial x‐rays (50–100 kVp) are used for treating non‐melanoma skin cancer and intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT). At these energies, the photoelectric effect significantly increases absorbed dose to bone compared to soft tissue.

An initial investigation into the low-cost manufacture of diffracting objects [PDF]
In this letter we report on an initial investigation into the printing of diffracting objects via the high-speed, low-cost, printing process of offset-lithography, a method more commonly used in the printing of books and newspapers.

Abstract Purpose This study evaluates the dosimetric and geometric precision of a virtual cone technique using CBCT‐based polymer gel dosimetry, enabling radiation delivery, and imaging readout within an identical spatial coordinate system. Methods We created a C# script for a virtual cone technique that generates a treatment plan with 10 gantry arcs ...

Geodesic Distance Field-based Curved Layer Volume Decomposition for Multi-Axis Support-free Printing [PDF]
This paper presents a new curved layer volume decomposition method for multi-axis support-free printing of freeform solid parts. Given a solid model to be printed that is represented as a tetrahedral mesh, we first establish a geodesic distance field embedded on the mesh, whose value at any vertex is the geodesic distance to the base of the model. Next,

Abstract Purpose Breast cancer is a neoplastic disease with high prevalence among women. Radiotherapy is one of the principal treatment modalities for this disease, but it poses significant challenges. This study aimed to compare and evaluate the technical and dosimetric performance of conventional C‐arm linac systems and a new design, Halcyon, in the ...

Design and validation of a novel dosimetry phantom for motion management audits
Abstract Background We present a novel phantom design for conducting end‐to‐end dosimetry audits for respiratory motion management of two anatomical treatment sites. The design enables radiochromic film measurements of the dose administered to the target throughout the respiratory cycle (motion‐included) and the dose delivered to the time‐averaged ...
