Imaging with parallel ray-rotation sheets

open access: yes, 2008
A ray-rotation sheet consists of miniaturized optical components that function - ray optically - as a homogeneous medium that rotates the local direction of transmitted light rays around the sheet normal by an arbitrary angle [A. C.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Yoked prisms and cerebral visual impairment: Enhancing the experience of ambient vision

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology
Background: Perceptual visual impairment leads to impaired functional vision in children with cerebral visual impairment. Yoked prisms have been used in behavioral vision therapy for children with autism (dysfunctional dorsal visual processing pathway ...

Decomposition of Certain Complete Bipartite Graphs into Prisms

open access: yesDiscussiones Mathematicae Graph Theory, 2017
Häggkvist [6] proved that every 3-regular bipartite graph of order 2n with no component isomorphic to the Heawood graph decomposes the complete bipartite graph K6n,6n.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Modulus of Elasticity and Mechanical Properties Assessment of Historical Masonry Elements After Elevated Temperature: Experimental Study and Numerical Analysis

open access: yesBuildings
Historical masonry structures deteriorate over time, requiring restoration and strengthening. Hydraulic lime-based mortars (HLMs), due to their compatibility with historical materials, are commonly used for this purpose.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

How to Get the Full Prism Effect

open access: yesi-Perception, 2015
We investigate how the immediate correction effect decreases mispointing under prisms. Subjects performed rhythmic pointing movements under different conditions with horizontally shifting prisms.

Polarizer mechanism for the space telescope faint object spectrograph [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
The polarizer mechanism for the Space Telescope Faint Object Spectrograph is described. This device will allow spectropolarimetric measurements of faint astronomical objects. The mechanism employs a unique arrangement to meet functional requirements in a
